I figure 1 thread for all primary posts would be better idea.
So Hillary and McCain took New Hampshire yesterday, surprise results for both. Clinton won by 3% over Obama While McCain won by 6% over Romney. Pre-mature talk of a Clinton demise which sprung up immediately after Obama’s strong win in the Iowa caucus is gone and McCain’s win sparks a comeback, just months ago his election team was collapsing as key members starting abandoning him as funding dried up, now he’s on the forefront of a wide open race.
Next up is Michigan who’s Democratic delegates have been disqualified and Obama and Edward aren’t even on the ballet so Hillary will win this state even those it counts for nothing but maybe some momentum, in the unlikely event that a high number of voters cast their ballets “uncommitted”, Hillary could be damaged. After that Dems head to Nevada where Obama has scored the very important backing of the Union there, a big advantage. On the other side the story in Michigan will be McCain vs Romney, Romney has spent roughly $7 million in the state and his father was governor there back in the 60’s, this state is important for both candidates as the next state after that is South Carolina where it will be a close 4 man race (Huckabee, Thompson, Romney, McCain), winning Michigan and one could afford to lose there.
New Hampshire resultm, 99% Reporting:
Democrats
Clinton 39%
Obama 36%
Edwards 17%
No, NH independents voted yesterday with the Dems and Repubs. 44% of voters in NH are independent, while 26% are Dem and 30% Repub. Obama got 44% of the independent vote, Hillary took in 17%.
The way economy is tanking right now, I doubt an incumbant party candidate (Republican) can win Prez election in Nov '08. Much of the blame for the recession will be borne by Republicans, being in power for the last 8 years.
Hillary scares me. She is too prone to following the polls (with little to show for her own thinking), and is guided too much by special interest and lobbyists. Obama scares me even more with his nonsense positions on crucial foreign policy issues. Edwards is probably the only democrat I hope (against hope) to win; now that Biden has bitten the dust.
McCain has a savvy world view. I doubt he will go all the way. He is too old. He is too liberal. And he is too unstable. Between Guiliani, Romney and Huckabee... all are bad choices. Some very bad.
Sorry thing is that whoever wins in November, will be bad news for Pakistan. As much as we hate Bush Jr, he has given the longest string to Pakistan.
Majority can agree that these they will be competing for the nomination. Let’s see where they stand on CHANGE or issues?
Immigration: All in favor of legalization.
Iraq: Republicans want to stay, democrats will be planning to leave from the first day they enter White House. All three can not guarntee whether they’ll be able to end war and remove forces within their first terms.
Health care: Do not know much in detail, but democrats want to make it mandatory and introduce “Universal Health Care”. Republicans want to privatize it?
Oil: ???
Iran: Republicans are in line with Bush while with democrats its only the vote that suggets they are not in favor of engaging with Iran. Let’s see how long that will last.
Pakistan: Republicans have openly suggested that Musharraf is an ally and they will support him. Only Huckabee came out looking stupid. On democratic front, even though they want elections and inquiries, no front runner has called Musharraf to step down or said to end supporting/ cutting aid for Pakistan.
:hehe: I don’t think you have been watching Democrats speak enough or for that matter the republicans. FOr views on Musharraf (his end becoming an apparent text book example of weak manchurian puppets) watch the New Hampshire Democratic debate.
Ron Paul is the only true choice for the Americans…to reclaim the destiny for the prodigious American Republic.
During a Republican debate last night the candidates were asked about the incident last week involving the U.S. Navy and Iranian boats. Fred Thompson's answer is odd and I would say insulting to Muslims.
"I think one more step and they would have been introduced to those virgins that they're looking forward to seeing."
WTF type of answer is that? And this clown wants to be President? Scary
Full video of the debate? I think they will re-telecast the debate during weekends. Check your local listings. This video that I have posted has all of the responses from Ron Paul during the debate.
I think Obama is a good candidate, Clinton with her little drama of crying that she did before the new hampshire primary just made me not like her even more. She seems so fake and too much like a scummy politician.
I'll vote for Obama. It's too bad Ron Paul isn't that popular, his knowledge in economics is so impressive.
Obama will get chewed up big time when the Republicans get a hold of him
Fairly certain most Republicans aren't going vote for him anyway so they can chew him up all they want. Obama is grabbing the independents, McCain could threaten that but the republican base hates McCain so game on.
Obama, while dominating in getting the black vote is crossing the lines and getting the white and upperclass votes as well. Obama had more votes in SC than all the Republicans did combined.
Obama only got 1/4 of the white vote. That's not going to bode well in the general election, especially if the republican is McCain, who is also popular amongst independents. If the republican base hates McCain, it stands they despise Obama.
