U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

^
I don't understand that logic at all mercenary and history clearly says the opposite of what your stating as over 80% of black voters supported Bill Clinton in his runs for President and in no way did that hurt him.

Sem, Clinton received 36% of the white vote, does that mean she wouldn't do well in the general election either? Obama received 50% of the white vote from younger voters (30 and under) while Clinton and Edwards split the rest.

I don't see the Republican base energizing and supporting McCain if it's him against an Obama&Edwards. They most certainly will if he faces Clinton as their hate for her is unequivocal.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

i think he means to say that if there is a perception that most blacks are voting for obama, that may allow the narrative to be cast in a racial context (blacks supporting the black guy.. who are you supporting?), in which case in the general election and in states that are not as black as SC, Obama will have trouble.

thats kinda what the clintons tried to do. no reason why repubs wont do the same, and im guessing their base responds more strongly to those sorta things.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

The way I see it, whether we get a Republican president or not depends totally on who the Dem nominee is. If Hillary is the nominee I think Romney or McCain will win easily. If Obama is the nominee, there will be a tough fight and any one of them can win.

But I think all three of them will be good presidents but my order of preference is McCain, Romney, Obama.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

all politicians have to be not so vested in wrong propaganda and looting under the guise of one's position or power.
politics is a very scummy bucket, unfortunately.
all about money and self interest.
so, you cant really bet on a good leadership, especially given a history of a country or nation whose very existence is based on plunder.
time will be on the side of those who truly care about the country, its govt policies at home and abroad and they affect america's image as well as disclose the moral and ethical values in terms of dominating other countries and nations.

best,
Dushwari

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

McCain?! What made you trust him? He has such double standards and then he is a neo-con even If he opposed many words of Bush he is no better than him.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

All three have double standards and other faults. We cannot expect everyone to become a saint like Gandhiji!

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

From McCain, Obama and Clinton

McCain is the person best for Pakistan

He has repeatedly said that most Pakistanis are not extremists and we must support the Pakistani people and we must not violate Pakistani sovereignty

Both Obama and Clinton have said they will bomb Pakistan

I think McCain is the best choice for Pakistan and I personally like him

I was supporting him in 2000

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

It quite clear by now what Republicans Like the Bushes can do for Pakistan.....

I like Obama because he will disengage from the Disasterous Policy in Iraq.....

ofcourse only time will tell whether Obama gets picked by his Party..

Best endorsement Obama got was from Caroline Kennedy, She likened him to her Father JFK..........can't do better than that.....:biggthumb

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

You are thinking like a true blue Pakistani nationalist.

And guess what!

Islamists hate Pakistani nationalists. They would rather get bombed by Obama or duped by Hillary, but by golly they will "stand by their Islamists anarachists".

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

^^ yes but many non-Islamic pakistanis are too stupid to realize that

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Lol! Acha?! Has he said so....so you guys want another cowboy for your country or countries neighbours...more Islamic countries to be bombed by the help of other Islamic Republics?! You care only for yourself not for others. Funny!

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Democractic leaders dont fight military wars to boost their own economy like neo-cons do. Best example is and was Bill Clinton.
Thats something you must learn before blaming everyone as an anarchist and terrorist, who goes against your Bush and Mush whom you worship and ideolize for the sake of your families and your own happiness ONLY!
We have more to be worried about then ourselves. Maybe one day or another you will understand that selfishness leads to nothing.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Absolutely correct Ali!

These are the kinda people that resort to meddle in others personal lives to justify their hatred. Republican's biggest worry was Clinton getting head. However, the entire of world agreed that it was his personal life and it did not affect his role as a President. They cried foul like 'oh he has embarrased the country, must be impeached'. Bush has embarrased the country 100 times over, yet you see the democrats being patient and giving him the fair chance to live out his presidency. Yes there's politics and they're cashing in on the antimosity people hold for him and his party, but atleast they don't go peeking into his personal life like um......Chenney's daughter was gay and he's against gays...wth? And that Jenna and the other one went partying in Cancun and their purse was stolen, mind you while they were secured by Secret Services :CareBear:

What they're ashamed to mention is that during Democrats time in power, economy has always been strengthened. The public at-large has always prospered, and lets not forget that it was during Clinton administration that the country's deficit was erased and we all saw a surplus.

But no no, those are petty things. Ofcourssseeeeee, but lets also remember Clinton didn't even want to be seen with Musharraf, hence him avoiding public support for his coup in 99.

I could go on and on and on....but it's like talking to a blimmin Wall with these rightist folks.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

If you see this as a contest between the two parties it is a mistake. American presidency has always been defined by the individual. That is why you see so many many presidencies where the party and the president beome disconnected and even opposite as the presidency progresses in time.

Hence I look at the individual and give no credence to party. As individuals McCain, Romney and Obama (in that order) seem (emphasize seem) honest and clear headed. Ron Paul actually made a lot of sense but his crack pot side makes him ineligible.

Also I am surprised that Pakistanis here seem against McCain - he was the only one who consistently spoke against torture and for respect.

Ali / Teggy: how come?

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

^ Unfortunately, many people (if not a majority) tend to vote along party lines. It's an ignorant thing to do, but is very common.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Ali bro! you are right if one knows only 15 years history of America.

For those who care to "learn" a bit more than 15 years, there are tonnes of examples where democratic presidents went to much bigger wars than puny GWI or GWII.

Oh well! As they say Little knowledge is dangerous for puny minds (Neem Hakim.....)

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

I suppose you could say it's just that he's from the same think camp as Bush. While yes, he has disagreed with Bush on several front, however, he did make the booboo of singing 'bomb bomb bomb iran' and that's worrysome. Because if that's the first thing on his mind, then who's next? Iran is right next door, it would affect both India and Pakistan alike.

Bush too says he respects Muslims and often reiterates that Islam is indeed the religion of peace but his actions unfortunately don't match his words at times. He plays the conservative card of honesty, family values, tradition, etc. Under his administration, there have been so many things that have gone wrong. From the unlawful wiretapping, to a congressman who was rather of the homosexual orientation with the interns, to Scooter Libby's lying and Cheney using his should to shoot the gun and defame a CIA agent and her husband because they spoke against the administration and wanted to demolish the pathetic excuse for going to war in Iraq, lying about WMD's just to go war in Iraq. So on and so forth.......

Besides i'm not for either. Both are political parties, both motivated by political gains/losses. It's the track-record of the party and thought/action process of each party that i'm looking at. You're absolutely correct each candidate may/may not be the same as rest. But he has to adhere to the party lines, he has to please those who he associates with (Republican/Democrats) in this case.

It's a known fact that democrats are usually and mostly for the public and economic growth and foreign policy that ensures gain inside and outside, while republicans are more likely to be on the offensive, and wasteful of resources.

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

No I have read his interviews in regards to Pakistan

He said that the approach to Pakistan was totally wrong

USA needs a Pakistan policy not a Musharraf policy

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

Hahahaha.... thats a good one... Seems like we have so many experts on American history debating this one here. :D

Re: U.S. Presidential Primary Watch 2008

While it would be nice for everyone to research every candidate running out there (for non-presidential positions) we know this isn't going to happen so voting along party lines and you can be fairly certain that those candidates you vote for will more closely reflect your political views and opinions as opposed to the guy on the other side.
