Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012
Well just before the World Cup they did beat World Champions Australia 2-1 in their own backyard and also won all their group games.
But it has been all downhill since then

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012
These positions will determine in which group you will play in the next world cup. The higher you finish the easier will be your matches in next world cup esp. at the KO stages. Since Pakistan has finished so low (8th), they will probably be grouped with other low performing teams (like BD and England). Even if they qualify from their group they can expect to meet a much stronger team at the QF stage
Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012
Life is tough..
So Pakistan went from being 1 wicket away from qualifying for the semis and facing New Zealand & Australia respectively (two teams they had already beaten on this tour) to losing to Bangladesh and finishing in 8th place!
Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012
The last three matches they seem to have gone off completely, first India, than West Indies and now BD. Bad show.
No problem ... next time. team is good... Babar is big positive for Pak cricket.... Such is this game..
I think after that close finish in QF they basically said...'Matti dal... ab ki farq padta hai'...

They first aimed at 1st spot at top, when they knew they couldn't make it then they aimed at 1st spot from bottom, simple.

Wasn't this a foregone conclusion?
Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012
Congrats to Indian fans for U-19 WC victory :k:

Yes it was esp. after they beat Pakistan in QF :)

Not really.
Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012
I take my hat off to indian batting. Great knock by kaptaan
225 is a formidable total in under-19 cricket and not many sides would have successfully chased this target in a final.
India achieved it with ease in the end with 6 wickets and more than two overs remaining
They were not the pre-tournament favourites (Australia or Pakistan were touted to win) and they exceeded their own expectations
Australia were unbeaten in this tournament and this was also the first time they were beaten in a final.
Congratulations on winning the world cup. India level Australia with 3 U-19 world cups. Take a bow U.Chand
Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012
It just proves once again that batting is the key in all limited overs formats. Bowling matters less so imo
And what's up with Delhi? keep on producing world class batsmen.

Both captains led by example. Chand for India and Bosisto for Australia with 87*. From a precarious 38/4, 225/8 was a big recovery by Australia

My hometown :D
The days of technically correct but ready to wilt under pressure batsmen from Mumbai dominating the Indian line up are gone!! Mentally strong explosive Delhi players have taken over. Sehwag, Gambhir, Kohli, Dhawan, Chand etc etc.

Well done! Jai Hind!
