Hopefully Pakistan Under-19 team is made up of mard bachchay and not sissy boys like the ones in the hockey team who got thrashed by the Australian boys.

This team recently won the 3-match 1-day series against Australia. :k:

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

Bangladesh’s captain Anamul Haque led his side to victory over Sri Lanka with a century in their opening Under-19 World Cup match at Allan Border Field in Brisbane. Haque’s 101 was augmented by 84 from Asif Ahmed as Bangladesh notched a tally of 7 for 249, and it would prove too steep a task for the Sri Lankans, who fell 25 runs short in the afternoon.
Sri Lanka had sent Bangladesh in to exploit what early morning moisture could be found, and when Soumya Sarkar fell to the second ball of the match it looked a wise call.
But Haque counter-attacked effectively, and though he lost Liton Das with the score at 42, carried on in the company of Asif until his side had reached 183 in the 41st over. This was a platform on which the middle order capitalised with a handful of big hits to nudge 250. Sanitha de Mel added two more wickets to that of Sarkar’s to be Sri Lanka’s most incisive bowler.
Their chase of the target was off to a sound enough start, before the loss of Sebastian Perera heralded a collapse of 4 for 16. From 4 for 58 the Sri Lankans were always likely to struggle, and they were rounded up comfortably short of Bangladesh despite a determined 83 from Angelo Jayasinghe and Lahiru Madushanka’s 48. Bangladesh’s bowlers shared the spoils, Sarkar nabbing Jayasinghe as one of two wickets in an over with his part-time mediums to snuff out Sri Lanka’s resistance.
Papua New Guinea were beaten comprehensively by Zimbabwe at Endeavour Park. A five-wicket haul from Christopher Kent, the captain who also bowls leg-spin, kept Zimbabwe to 249 but it proved too much for PNG. They were bowled out for 145 with Sese Bau managing a highest of 34 at a run a ball. Kent made 24 but PNG kept losing wickets too frequently. Each of Zimbabwe’s six bowlers managed at least a wicket; offspinner Matthew Bentley, legspinner Peacemore Zimwa and seamer Luke Jongwe bagged two each. Zimbabwe, presumably, would have hoped for much more than what they managed, since they got an excellent start from their openers Kevin Kasuza (97) and Luke Masasire (47) who added 109. That was followed by a 66-run stand between Kasuza and Ryan Burl. But Zimbabwe lost their way when the score was 196; four wickets fell with no run added, and the last eight wickets fell for just 53. However, their final score was more than sufficient to defend.
Afghanistan crashed to a 109-run defeat at the hands of Pakistan at John Blanck Oval. Afghanistan chose to field and were able to keep Pakistan to 6 for 253. Pakistan captain Babar Azam top-scored with 75 but his effort at the top of the order was almost undermined by a middle-order wobble as a result of which the team slipped to 5 for 148 in the 37th over. But Mohammad Nawaz stepped up amid the pressure, smashing 66 off just 50 balls, including seven fours and a six, to take the score past 250. He added 103 with No.5 batsman Umar Waheed, who was unbeaten on 43 off 44 balls.
**Left-arm seamer Zia-ul-Haq starred with the ball, taking four wickets including the openers who added 36. The only bright spots in an otherwise poor scorecard for Afghanistan were a half-century from Hashmatullah Shaidi at No.3 and a knock of 30 from Mohibullah Paak in the middle order. The rest of the line-up didn’t contribute much and Afghanistan were bowled out for 144 in 45.1 overs.

Bangladesh started the tournament with a win on Saturday but could not back it up on Sunday, beaten comprehensively by South Africa at Allan Border Field in Brisbane. Quinton de Kock showed why he has already made a name for himself at first-class level for Gauteng, striking 95 at better than a run a ball after the South Africans were sent in by Bangladesh. Theunis de Bruyn also made a valuable contribution of 63 and by the time their partnership was broken, South Africa were 170 for 3. The rest of the South Africans chipped in and took the total on to 294 for 8, despite three wickets each for the spinners Noor Hossain and Nasum Ahmed.
The chase began poorly for Bangladesh as Corné Dry removed both openers within the first four overs. Only three batsmen passed 20 in the Bangladesh innings and after a 58-run third-wicket stand between Nurul Hasan (27) and the captain Anamal Haque (39), both of whom fell to Vincent Moore, there was little else for Bangladesh to celebrate. Al-Amin made 33 but wickets kept falling and Bangladesh were dismissed for 161 in the 35th over, leaving them on the wrong end of a 133-run defeat.
England sealed a comfortable seven-wicket win over Ireland at Endeavour Park after bowling out the opposition for just 109. Left-arm seamer Reece Topley was among the wickets again, picking up three for 14 in a nine-over spell that included four maidens. Ireland, after being put in, began slowly and slowed down further as they kept losing wickets regularly. Only three of their batsmen managed to reach double-figures, with a highest of 28 from Tyrone Kane. Andy McBrine made 16 and captain George Dockrell contributed 26. Each of England’s six bowlers was economical and five among them bagged at least a wicket each.
England lost their openers early in the chase but were steadied by a 32-run stand between Ben Foakes and Craig Overton. Foakes fell with the score on 54, but Overton, joined by Aneesh Kapil who made an unbeaten 32, helped see his team through as the game was sealed in the 37th over. The win was England’s first in this competition, having been beaten by Australia on the opening day.
New Zealand began their World Cup campaign with a win over Scotland at the John Blanck Oval, set up by a century from Will Young and a collective bowling effort. Asked to bat, New Zealand were given a solid platform thanks to a 88-run third-wicket stand between Young (115) and Robert O’Donnell who made a half-century. Young scored better than a run a ball and smashed five fours and three sixes in his knock. New Zealand were 179 for 3 at one stage but slipped to 247 for 9. Ruiadhri Smith picked up three wickets.
Scotland punched above their weight in the chase and were in a good position at 86 for 2 in the 19th over. They were then reduced to 110 for 5 but a half-century from Freddie Coleman and his 57-run stand with Henry Edwards gave his team some hope. But both were dismissed in the same over by medium-pacer Connor Neynens, who finished with 3 for 24 in ten overs. Legspinner Ish Sodhi also picked up three wickets and Scotland were bowled out for 208.
