U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

137/9

India wins.

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

ooops

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

Pakistan lost to India by 1 wicket. Koi nae. We fought till the last ball. Heads up.

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

Congratulations to India

The bowlers kept us in the game but to be fair 136 was a pathetic total. I think we were in a similar situation against India in 2006 when we successfully defended 100 odd against them. NZ chased down 237 against Windies in the other QF!

Whether it is under-19, ODI or test cricket, batting seems to be our main weakness

Can't keep scoring below-par totals and expect to win on the strength of our bowling. Miracles don't happen every day

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

Today Bangladesh and Pakistan play for 7th and 8th position. Best of luck

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

Same old story vs Windies. bowlers delivered, batsmen again disappointed, could not even chase 182

Pakistan can finish in 7th place at best

5th Place Play-off Semi-Final: Pakistan Under-19s v West Indies Under-19s at Townsville, Aug 22, 2012 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that whether it is under-19, one-day or test cricket, Pakistan lose more games because of their inconsistent batting (barring one or two brilliant individuals in every team) rather than the bowling. No point moaning too much about the fielding because it will never improve beyond a certain level no matter who we hire as fielding coach.

Batting has always been the main cause of our downfall

Even in the shortest format (T-20) our average score is like a pathetic 130-140 runs and bowlers have contributed to most of the wins

Infact I cannot remember a single T20 game where Pakistan successfully chased a formidable (160+) total against anyone. It is always the other way around; bowlers defending a below-par total

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

Under-19! Think again

Under-19 is a misnomer. Perhaps it should be called 'allegedly under-20' world cup

Pak and BD XIs the most representative of under 19

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

Apparently

“To compete in the ICC U19 CWC Players from Full Member countries must be
under the age of 19 on the 1st of September before the event takes place and
Players from Associate or Affiliate Member countries must be under the age of 20
on the 1st of September before the event takes place.”

http://www.africacricket.org/pdf’s/32_qualification_rules_u19_age_determination_policy.pdf

But then they should not call it under-19 world cup
**
It should be under the age of 19 before/on the first day of each event**

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

I dont understand these playoffs and so many of them. Once you are out of the tournament that should be that, but still it makes some peoples day. choti choti khusian.

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

I agree with the comment where senior team is concerned, not with these youngsters, they have performed very well. We should accept Indian team pipped them and that also just. So shall we also say that their batting line up is no better than ours. It was just two poor matches.

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

I agree

Re: U-19 World Cup in Australia - 2012

Babar Azam is exempt from blame, scored runs consistently. looks a good batting prospect. I would pick him for senior squad ASAP.
