Typical conversation at my breakfast table.

Note: It’s in a Punjabi Urdu mix but for the benefit of the public, it’s been translated into English.

Mom: So, what do you want to have for breakfast?

aJ: Nothing, just chayay will do!

Mom: Just chayay? No …. I will make you Pratha & Anda.

aJ: No Maa, I am fine with chayay!!

Mom: You don’t like paratha & Anda?

aJ: No Maa, I love Paratha … I am just not hungry …

Mom: I will warm you that soji ka halwa!

aJ: No Maaaaaa, I will just have my chayay & I will be fine!

Mom: It seems you don’t like my cooking.

aJ: Uffff, Maaa .. I just need my chayay to wake me up, then I will be on my way.

Mom: You haven’t been eating much, why aren’t you hungry?

aJ: Mom, can I have my chayay?

Mom: You should go see a doctor .. what about that Pakistani doctor, heard he is good ….

aJ: Mom, I don’t need a doctor, I need my chayay!

Mom: You know, your Dad, Uncles at your age used to eat so much! I was the only one cooking for 20+ people, they would drink Lassi in the morning, eat chopri hui roti with dahi & achar … then they would be hungry by noon again.

aJ: Mom, they worked in fields & burned their calories, I am computer dude, I work in an office that has electronically controlled AC, I don’t have get out of my chair to talk to someone cos I can call/email them ..

Mom: Bus buss … don’t talk too much.

aJ: Mom, where is my chayay …?? (Looking at the clock)

Mom: How about I make you the big glass of Rooh Afza wala doodh?

aJ: Mommmmmmmmmm, I just need my chayayyyyyy (almost crying)

Mom: Fine!!!

---------After 5 minutes--------------

Mom: We are out of milk, here is some soji ka halwa

I feel sorry for you guys, Mom's are so much fun, the older they get the more funny they become.

SeeBee: I would have eaten my gajar ka halwa but as you see, it was not one of the choices. sigh Soji ka halwa is good too but Mom puts in so much giri mayway that it's looks like a dry fruit dish.

That’s so cute. I make my own breakfast And i never down a paraNtha by chef mom, that’s a big :nono:

However, when i go home everytime, my mom thinks that i have lost weight so she makes me eat so much more food than i normally would.

I love moms.

mom chal hat khud se bana, itnay baray ghoray hogai abhi tak kaam nahi karta khud se, ye nahi ke kuch humain bana ke khila de kabhi. us ko dekho woh bhi to khud se banata hai, uski ammi kitni khush hain.
