1.** **Overdid NS bashing **(and I agree with Yazdi). He could have toned down some of his language as well. IK should have also criticised the performance of the PPP Federal Government and that of CMs of Sindh, Balochistan and KP. He may have done that in some of his jalsas but the overwhelming impression is that PML-N was his main target (which is also understandable since PML-N is his main rival in Punjab). I am not a big fan of the Sharifs but let’s be fair here. The only CM who was active and visible during the last 5 years or was seen to be doing something for the people was Shahbaz Sharif. The rest were all invisible and useless to say the least

2. Solution-oriented promises (this is not necessarily a criticism of IK)

Here I believe IK’s team could have done their homework better (by exploring specific needs of each constituency) and his speeches could have focussed more on local needs and services. Ofcourse you can’t promise a Rose Garden to everyone since Pakistan doesn’t have the kind of money that western democracies have. It is about making realistic promises

For instance if doing a jalsa in Sargodha and a medical college is their biggest need, PTI could have made that specific promise to the locals
Likewise if visiting Jacobabad and a good network of local roads or schools is their most pressing need, then you could mention that in your speech

To me constituency-based manifesto is a much better way of persuading local voters than simply saying ‘I will end corruption or I will always speak the truth etc.’
