I personally think he didnt bash the Sharifs enough. 2 of the biggest money launderers and thieves in Pakistan, who did not audit a single project in their 5 years of governance deserved more. NS has too many buddies in the media, hence the popular assumption that Imran is always bashing him for no reason, while not touching others, but the fact is, he has talked about others as well.
As far as local issues are concerned, I think the biggest selling point is local body elections which he has promised and stressed in every speech.....devolution of power to as small a scale as possible. Once the local bodies have the power in their own hands, they can mend their problems themselves in a far better way than the federal govt. That is how it should always be.
Let's be fair.. the biggest issue which matters to the people of Punjab during this election is load shedding. Unlike other provinces.. Punjab has much better security and crime situation. The provincial government in Punjab has performed in every big and small area on local issues. In our area all the grave yards got their boundary walls, all the filthy areas reserved for parks were turned in to beautiful parks, a large women college in Walton area is complete, a technical college is complete, the government hospital got a huge expansion.. and more or less the corruption was also under control on lower level. When someone was trying to fleece people through corruption... SS government promptly took action. Things were actually functioning well on provincial level.
In these circumstances most of the media-public complaints were against the federal government. IK failed to criticize specifically the NICL scam, haj scandal, PIA scam, Railway corruption, Steel mill losses, load shedding in Punjab.. and all his attack was pointed towards Punjab government which was actually performing quite well.. Many big and small cities were getting their infra structure made.. garbage collection system was introduced in every big and small city in Punjab. In Lahore they bought new road washing machines and most of the main road in Lahore are actually washed every night.
IK left Zardari bashing entirely to Shahbaz Sharif who took the initiative.. and is expected to win most of the seats in Punjab. Most of the PMLN candidates were working in the constituencies day and night.. while PTI team was not even in place. They took too much time to structure their candidates.
The internal elections were totally a useless exercise. You can see what sort of people are generally elected to party port folios. I predicted before the election that it seems the elections are taking place between all the property dealers in Punjab. Generally when you see Mansha Sindhu type of candidates getting PTI tickets.. the quality of PMLN candidates is generally much better..
IK may be very sincere and I mostly support him despite all his mistakes because he has the capacity to make this nation rise above baradaris, ethnicities, religion, and regionalism.. for me these are much needed things for our country in the present situation.
