Two-faced showbiz people

^ I actually meant for interviews (duh) and not any acts or plays! U see them give interviews and they'll be all praises about everyone, the minute the camera lights go-off..they bring-on a a different personality. U'd be surprised how many people STILL idolize Pakistani tv artists even today.. they wanna be just like them.

I have yet to hear anyone's name from Anwaq Maq's mouth still..

100% right :lifey:

did y’all hear it..its all pretend, why take what ppl do on screen so seriously.

And please one of y’all ever come and complain about john holmes or ashley juggs please. they are just playing pretend on the screen.

^ If u hear any of their interviews where they oppose flesh-shows and speak of morals..and how they’re responsible of the image of Pakistan and then they go about doing the same.. that’s what’s being discussed

I’m aware in drama’s they’re playing a role, but doesn’t that also mean not talking about people from the same field, fraternity?

Re: Two-faced showbiz people

Folks, let me please be very clear on a couple of things, Please keep any personal rivalries out of here. I have been around long enough when I see agendas- Thanks

I am making a request this time :)

^ I can only speak on MY behalf.. not the others.

It's a matter of perception, otherwise i'm on topic :)

Re: Two-faced showbiz people

Thank you, please keep it that way, I hate to see good posters/valued members get into issues due to fights. Thanks again

apologies for that insult. i should have used better words. I think we as muslims are our own biggest enemy to be quiet honest its not really india, and if you really wanna get down to history and current affairs...suicide bombings, sindhi and balochis or punjabis fighting each other, sunni vs. shia, and i could go on and on this is done right here in pakistan...it has now been 61 years since pakistan gained independence and what progress have we made? i don't want to sound pessimistic but when you have certain people always pointing fingers at others be it towards celebrities, the media, or the government, it bothers me because its the general public including us that need to change first, before opening up a list of who is two-faced in a showbiz industry, recognizing who we are is more important. its as if there is a agenda being promoted here by certain members of this forum and all they do is criticize celebrities...i am sure none of us on this forum think of them as our role models...they are there to provide us entertainment, criticize them for thier work but don't make personal attacks regarding their character.

I remember junaid jamshed saying in one of his interviews that a nation can only succeed when it recognizes its own mistakes first instead of pointing fingers at others..when they realize that the enemy is from with in. to have such an ideology does that make one two face? as for friendship and peace, doesn't islam encourage peace and friendship and tolerance towards other regardless of what region of the world or religion they belong to? a wise man one said "keep your friends close and your enemies closer"
Hopelessness is spread in the society when you allow it to spread its the general public who are hopeless. why? because no one wants to see the positive side everyone always wants to criticize others that includes media as well. hum sub bohot busy hain hur aik kee khaamiyan nikalnai mein to phir hopelessness to ho gi naa kyun kai achai to hum kisi kee kurtai hee nahi hai kabhi...we are all to quick to point out problems but none of us want to work on the solution. my suggestion is lets stop playing the blame game and concentrate on what could be done to bring about change.

Good thread guys.

I would like to pick on the point on the above post....

I agree that generally there is too much negativity in the Pak society and the Pak media in general. Part of that has to do with the feeling of isolation in the global setting, and also germinates from the portrayals of our nation in the foreign press, and yes there is a massive tendency in the int'l media to potray us in a certain manner to.

But note that this is a cyclical process that magnifies over time. The foreign press at times picks up stories highlighted by the local media, which really just rants, raves and exacerbates situations rather than showing people the way ahead, the way forward and functioning as a guidance/opinion molding mechanism and not just a device for criticism and so-called monitoring, though that is a very important role the media plays. The local press then follows these cues from the foreign press to do its own (negative) work, and the process goes on.

I've rarely a seen a unique, sympathetic perspective in the Pakistani media for their nation. At times they're even more bellicose than some foreign newspapers or channels.

The showbiz people on the other hand aren't the most intellectual on Earth. They usually pick up on whatever is going around them and due to the lack of proper showbiz infrastructure and overemphasis on the television industry, we don't have many "stars" and so these people do feel a certain inferiority complex relative to their colleagues across the border, which just reinforces their (rather unpatriotic) opinions.

I understand your viewpoint. But criticism is part of healthy debate. celebrities are public figures and they would be scrutinized. especially when they come on television and start talking about politics and religion. If they restrict themselves to their area of expertise and refrain from making frivolous comments nobody would have a problem with them.
Some of our talk show hosts do use this powerful medium to promote their personal agendas and their political affiliations. They need to be checked because they're in a position to get their voice heard . I've a problem when

1)anti-nationalistic politicians are glorified,
2) when india is threatening us they 're talking about dosti instead of exposing their propaganda .in islam, if your enemy is planning to harm you it is your duty to defend yourself.
3) giving preferenmce to indina artists over pakistanis
4) junaid jamshed is presneted as a hardliner.
5) promoting a cultre that is in direct conflct with islamic teachings.

I haven't made any comments on their private life in this thread.I've only criticized them for what they have done on a public platform.

Re: Two-faced showbiz people

i think the problem here is that the showbiz circle is being given way too much credit and being taken way too seriously. sorry to say but they really are not taken very seriously in our society, outside the realm of their expertise i.e entertainment so they won't be very successful with these 'unpatriotic hidden agendas' even if they have any. rest assured.

Maybe its just me but I really do not look up to the showbiz world for moral, political or religious guidance so I have zero expectations in that regard from them.

expectations unn sey rakho jo humaray mashray mein kuch badalnay ki, kuch kar saknay ki salayhat rakhtay hain.

Majority of the housewives, young girls and guys wud watch drama's over any educational or political program. When girls go to get their Eid clothes they ask the tailor "Make it the way Nirma had her's for the ptv awards" they'll never say "Make it just the way Sherry Rehman wore for her Dec. 8th press conference"..

There are plenty of celebs that condemn and strongly oppose the "flesh-show" on talkshows and interviews.. but on-screen and in real life they'd be doing just that.

Re: Two-faced showbiz people

^:omg:

I wouldn’t copy Nirma’s taste in clothes because usually, they are horrendous. But Vinnie’s and Iman’s I like

Re: Two-faced showbiz people

Why would anyone want to look like Sherry Rehman?

Let me ask you. Do YOU walk around looking like Sherry Rehman?

:omg:

That's the subject being discussed, please read all the comments and follow the thread instead of just quoting my comments :)

The topic followed to WHY girls and boys idolize showbiz celebs, over politicians.. I neither follow celebs, nor politicians to answer u're YOUR question.

It was a response to wondergurl's comment that one shud look upto people that can change our "maashera"

Re: Two-faced showbiz people

yes how about backing ‘real’ people who have the guts to change and challenge the bullies, ppl like Imran Khan, what better national icon :jhanda:

very disturbing to see ‘begum’ nawazish ali talking (on page 1) about keeping a ‘positive image of Pakistan’ and then indulging in gross sexual innuendos with Aitezaz Ahsan. ya great example.

I'm a huge fan of IK, I love him for being vocal and gutsy! And what sets him apart is that he isn't two-faced, he's plain blunt!

Re: Two-faced showbiz people

Imran Khan is awesome... he came here in the summer to talk about current situations in Pakistan and man, every musharraf supporter switched sides.. LOL.. and he's very handsome too, noone could believe he's so old- he looked barely 30.
