Twilight Series

Title: Twilight
Author: Stephanie Meyer

Salaam everyone;

So I’ve started the first book of the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer.
I heard about it a few times; the last being on the radio. Z100 for the NY people; Elvis Duraan adn Danielle were raving about it. So I picked it up.

I’m in 50 pages; my thoughts so far.

The storyline is juvenille; the writing style is simple. I dare not say anything worse then that; I know how difficult it is to write. I feel like there is so much more room for description there; like the author describes this person as beautiful. Okay now tell me why – his eyes where? His mannerism? something to make me swoon too; afterall this is my imagination all it needs is spark and I’ll be looking at what I think is sexy. But she keeps insisting he’s just beautiful. Okay annnnnddd

Another thing that I thought was a little insulting to the brain was the set up.
Its a fantasy/sci/horror book right; the town its in is off of Seattle and always dark and it always rains and the people there are pale (its a Vampire story; how ironic that they are all pale-- NOT) because they’ve not seen the sun much.
The kids in school are all Sweet Valley High material and ofcourse there is the main character Bell who doesn’t fit in anywhere – stick out like a soar thumb; no better yet rings out like a loud “bell.”

Anyway, I do intend on reading the entire book; just wanted to see if any of you have read it and what you guys think about it?

I think I’ve learned my lesson; not reading anything unless its recommended from GS. :hehe:

Re: Twilight Series

:wsalam:

I heard of this book but haven’t gone through it. Some authors fill many pages while describing their views or characters now I wonder why didn’t this author sounds so limited. I will try to find out when I will read it

Re: Twilight Series

I mean, I'm reading it right now. The writing style IS juvenile and the descriptions...are...shallow-ish. But...I'm hooked. It's nice to read stuff that isn't super super dense and heavy every once in a while.

Re: Twilight Series

i read the whole series and it gets rated X in the fourth book
it would be better with more violence less of the yucky stuff(love):naraz: :disgust:

Re: Twilight Series

Yeh I'm up to the 2nd book now, very much hooked myself.

I think the initial taste is very childish but once you get attached to the characters you're in the for the ride of a lifetime.

Agreed -- you can't always read all that heavy earth shattering stuff. This is light and fluffy.

Re: Twilight Series

i wish there was more brutal murders or stuff like that
this stuff is like for 8 year olds

Re: Twilight Series

Not 8 ---
maybe 12

Re: Twilight Series

younger than 12

Haha. yeah, i stayed up all night and finished eclipse and breaking dawn.
I think more than the story, you get attached to the characters (Edward in particular cough cough)
But yeah, definitely good. I'd recommend it...for girls. It's still pretty heavy in the romance.

Re: Twilight Series

not ALL girls like romance like ME! :)
i had to read breaking dawn on the computer cos the libraries didnt have it
and my sisters kept bugging and interrupting me :(

Re: Twilight Series

I'm reading the "midnight sun" manuscript that stephanie meyer posted online. it's apparently twiligiht from edward's perspective. It was supposed to be released but it got leaked so now she doesn't want to! :(

Re: Twilight Series

I think she will still release it ---
I mean think about all the $$ she'd be giving up.

but it was quite interesting to read what Edward was thinking. very different from Bella's star struck eyes... I've not read it all but am dying to see how he finally falls for her.

Re: Twilight Series

yeah.
god I have the biggest crush on the actor that plays him. I've ALWAYS liked him, but especially now. And I heard he lives in LA now which is WHERE I AM. So I'm...hoping that one day I run into him somehwere. Yeah, not gonna happen. :/

Re: Twilight Series

Robert Pattinson.. yeh I'm in love with him too

Re: Twilight Series

yeah...gr...I HAVE TO FIND HIM. He was singing at some restaurant like 2 feet from my university on Wednesday. I saw it on perezhilton (yes, I'm stupid) because my friend texted me to tell me and I almost died from sadness. ugh!

Re: Twilight Series

WHATTTTTT You were there at teh go go to whiskey or something?

he’s such an air head in real like though – he’s just good as Edward.

Re: Twilight Series

lol no, no. IF I had known about it, I might have walked the few miles that it is from my dorm and gone...but alas! I didn't. My friend texted me the next day and was like OMG YOU'RE SUCH AN IDIOT! And then informed me that he was playing that night. I was sad that I missed it. I mean, I'm sure if you go and sit outside the clubs at Sunset you'll run into him becuase he's A FREAKING DRUNKARD that is at clubs everyday.
Yeah, he seems like an airhead. Like his interviews are...so hilarious because they make no sense at all.
But I'm still determined to somehow find a way to see him.

Re: Twilight Series

a drunkard? More the reason adn chances for me to take advantage of himm

HAHA. I hear ya! Yeah, all his “public sightings” have been him stumbling around with a whole bunch of drunk larkiyan.
Whatever. I still want to meet him.

Re: Twilight Series

hmmm
I’ve got the perfect plan…

we’ll both ACT drunk and lure him into our trap…
