A few years ago when the operations in South Waziristan was carried out carpet bombings took place, and a few months ago the air chief was taking pride that PAF has conducted 5500 bombing runs in FATA. Before carrying out the operations the army has to give the locals some time to go to safe areas which can be used by the militants to disperse as well. And just across the borders we have got terrorist sanctuaries which are more easily accessible for these groups as compared to other areas within Pakistan. Besides when Pakistan started operations in FATA, Americans vacated their bases in Eastern Afghanistan so as to provide the fleeing terrorists a safe haven.

you are right, even if our army forces them out, they will cross over to the border and and return after a while, Americans are really not intersted in taking an action against the militants in those areas. When they accuse us for giving safe havens to terrorist, Why does our govt/army stays silent, they should bring this matter to light and ask US why this hesitation in taking an action against militants in in Kunar and Nuristan province?
