Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol

**
Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol,

Start time: 14:00 GMT, 7 p.m. PST, 10 a.m. EDT (Eastern Daylight). **

Pakistan Team:

I’d pick the Pakistan 11 under the following considerations:

*** Twnety20 is a who-can-slog-more competition. It’s different from ODI games that Shoaib Akhtar’s 4 overs at 95mph could be more expesnive than Paul Colligwood’s at 75 mph. Bowlers who can take the pace off the ball are more economical.

*** We can have NO MORE THAN ONE specialist bowler who cannot bat at all (Asif, Danish). (All our other bowlers can bat-a-bit or more).

*** If you have followed the domestic Twnety20 tournament, you must have noticed that intelligent spin bowlers, and medium pace bowlers who could aim at the blockhole were more successful (economical) than super fast bowlers bowling short or good length deliveries. Spin bowlers can be handy as they take the PACE OFF THE BALL and force the batsman into manufacturing a slog which could get them caught out quite often. So Mohd Hafeez and Shoaib Malik should get preference over Imran Farhat.

My team would be:

  1. Shoaib Malik
  2. Mohammed Hafiz
  3. Shahid Afridi
  4. Younis Khan
  5. Mohammed Yousuf
  6. Inzimam-ul-Haq
  7. Abdul Razzaq
  8. Kamran Akmal
  9. Shoaib Akhtar
  10. Rana Naveedul Hassan
  11. Mohammed Asif.

It gives us two openers with Afridi to follow, then a strong middle order, backed by an explosive late order of Akmal/Razzaq/Shoaib/Rana Naveed. Bowling wise, we have Asif, Shoaib, Naveed, Razzaq, Malik and Hafeez.

Re: Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol,

ECB make plan for Twenty20 match

The England and Wales Cricket Board have made contingency plans for Monday’s Twenty20 International at Bristol if Pakistan do not play.

The ECB aim to call up a world team to play if Pakistan cannot fulfil the fixture.

The tourists are set to discover on Friday when Inzamam-ul-Haq’s disciplinary hearing into alleged ball-tampering will take place.
Their match against Middlesex on Thursday was abandoned because of rain.

The Twenty20 international is the last match ahead of the one-day series between England and Pakistan which begins next Wednesday in Cardiff.

The England and Wales Cricket Board would face the prospect of a loss of more than £10m if the one-day series is called off.

Re: Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol,

Pakistan shud be able to play.

Re: Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol,

i'd replace rana naved for danish kaneria only because spin bowlers are essential in the 10th-18th over.

Re: Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol,

We already have two "slow" bowlers in Hafiz and Malik, and Malik especially has been very good in the early slog overs of ODIs lately. So I think we can do away with our traditional "spin" bowler that Kaneria is.

Asif might prove a good container while Shoaib Akhtar could be the strike bowler, though bound to be very expensive. Rana Naveed when in form could be one of the most successful bowlers in 20/20 cuz of his "thoughtful" bowling. He's a very clever handler of the ball.

Re: Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol,

I will pick exactly the same team, except I will change batting order.
1. Hafeez
2. Afridi
3. Malik
4. Inzi
5. Younis
6. Yousaf
7. Razzaq
8. Akmal
9. Shoaib
10. Naveed
11. Asif

Razzaq can be moved up in the order if first three last long.

In the presence of Afridi (leg spin), Malik and Hafeez offspin we DO NOT need Danish. He should have been sent back home along with Butt and co. I am not sure if Pakistan will need him for any ODIs.

Re: Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol

I checked the weather report looks like there is going to be no cricket because of rain :crying:

Re: Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol

I will only replace Asif with Gul.....simply because he has a good yorker..... Ask Cook

And yup it looks like its gonna rain..... but last year in the domestic 20-20 they had a 5-5 over match so i wouldnt rule it out completey

Re: Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol

Is it going to rain the whole day or only in AM? Cuz the match starts late in the afternoon.

Re: Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol

Forecast is for showers but i am pretty sure that unless its consistent they will get some cricket be it 5-5 or 10-10 overs even.

Re: Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol

:dhimpak:

only AM showers

:yahoo:
