Twenty20: Pakistan vs England, August 28 @ Bristol,
Start time: 14:00 GMT, 7 p.m. PST, 10 a.m. EDT (Eastern Daylight). **
Pakistan Team:
I’d pick the Pakistan 11 under the following considerations:
*** Twnety20 is a who-can-slog-more competition. It’s different from ODI games that Shoaib Akhtar’s 4 overs at 95mph could be more expesnive than Paul Colligwood’s at 75 mph. Bowlers who can take the pace off the ball are more economical.
*** We can have NO MORE THAN ONE specialist bowler who cannot bat at all (Asif, Danish). (All our other bowlers can bat-a-bit or more).
*** If you have followed the domestic Twnety20 tournament, you must have noticed that intelligent spin bowlers, and medium pace bowlers who could aim at the blockhole were more successful (economical) than super fast bowlers bowling short or good length deliveries. Spin bowlers can be handy as they take the PACE OFF THE BALL and force the batsman into manufacturing a slog which could get them caught out quite often. So Mohd Hafeez and Shoaib Malik should get preference over Imran Farhat.
My team would be:
- Shoaib Malik
- Mohammed Hafiz
- Shahid Afridi
- Younis Khan
- Mohammed Yousuf
- Inzimam-ul-Haq
- Abdul Razzaq
- Kamran Akmal
- Shoaib Akhtar
- Rana Naveedul Hassan
- Mohammed Asif.
It gives us two openers with Afridi to follow, then a strong middle order, backed by an explosive late order of Akmal/Razzaq/Shoaib/Rana Naveed. Bowling wise, we have Asif, Shoaib, Naveed, Razzaq, Malik and Hafeez.
