Only way to get your cable company to receiver it is
a) You have Digital Cable
b) Highly unlikely for them to show cricket on their ppv, because Echostar bought the rights for the World Cup in North America.

If all else fails, go to a resturant and watch some of the matches from there. Or if you live in a big city, they usually show India and Pakistan matches on the Cinema screen of a theatre.

anyone knows the details about Rogers? For the last world cup, since i already had the Basic cable, they told me to upgraded it to VIP for a month which was about 70 bucks. Then i watched some matches as payed per view. As far i remember the quaters were 19.99 each, semi-finals were 29.99 each and final was 39.99. I am just not sure if this is the better way or i should go for the Dish?....keeping in mind i would probably only watch matches where Pakistan is playing.

World Cup Not On Tv

assalamoalikum

i live in england and i’m a big cricket fanatic but i have been saddened to know that world cup matches wn’t be on terrestrial tv why and i don’t know how i’ll watch the games i ain’t even sure whether channel 4 or bbc will show the highlights i’m so maddddddddddddddddd at the moment: i hate:kaboom: skysports they do this all the time against the less privilaged

I heard of someone in Bangladesh selling their house and everything else to get a Television so he could watch the World Cup 99.

Maybe that could be a hint.

I've heard all the discussions that ATN or Fox World Canada might show some matches. But its all still up in the air. Dish Network is too expensive for me. And pay per view is also not a sure bet (or is it??) for the world cup. Restaurants are a good option. Does anyone know any Toronto area restaurants or sports bars that might show atleast the Pak. VS. India game??

(P.S. Angel: Willow TV doesn't hv rights for WC. Infact none of the websites do. But we mite be able to get the audio of each game)

World cup rights are with Sky in UK and they will be showing all the matches.

maybe you shud head down the pub at 8 in the morn to catch the matches :)
lucky i got mates who hav skysports in their Halls...otherwise id b sitting in the Uni pub all day.. :)

ch4 or bbc...hmm..they just MIGHT show the highlights...although i doubt it...since sky has bought the rights. Oh well...such is life in UK :(

Jal_Pari: Check out the local desi papers. They've got some good satellite deals, where you have to pay for the initial installment and setup and afterwards, you'll have to pay once some chip/card burns or gets hacked. I believe it's still legal and is much cheaper.

akpower: Last WC, Woodside theatre broadcasted quite a number of live matches. They'll be broadcasting Pakistan vs. India for sure!! Call'em for details...

well I alled ATN and those guys have got the rights they are currently making the schedule for the matches they would be showing live
mind that they are not showing all the matches however the opening ceremony is confirmed so is semi and finals that would be shown
Fox sports on the other hand is trying and will seal the deal on jan27th

does anyone have ATN's website? is it available for US people?

I also asked Dish Network about individual matches and they said that they would NOT be offering individual matches for the World Cup.

I dunno but it seems to me that by making it $300, they may have priced themselves out of more profits. Does anyone know what they charged for WC '99?
