Turning indoor furniture to outdoor

@Muzna, @DECENT6chora, @Mirch

So we had these Ikea wooden futons (1 double and 3 single) with matresses that have been sitting in the garage collecting dust. Since we moved to our new place, I always wanted to use them in some creative way, and one day decided to convert these into outdoor furniture.

This is how the futons were. Just barewood. Good for indoor but not for outdoor

Here is one of the single one

The mattress of the double futon

Staining of 4 pieces took two hours. Cost was about $20

stained pieces after one full day of drying.

Re: Turning indoor furniture to outdoor

The outdoor fabric cost me $5 per yard from walmart. I needed 11 yarrds.

Used the sewing machine for the first time in life.

Cover fitted like a glove over the mattress.

Re: Turning indoor furniture to outdoor

You're a awesome TLK. :D

Re: Turning indoor furniture to outdoor

Couldn't you have just moved the indoor furniture outdoors?

Re: Turning indoor furniture to outdoor

Oh I know that . :D

You should not without weatherproofing it, - or in a long time, exposure of sun and rain will ruin it

Re: Turning indoor furniture to outdoor

A job well done. I am impressed :biggthumb:

Now all you need is a small fireplace in the middle and you are all set for roasting marshmallows, eating s'mores and enjoying summer nights :) haha btw, TLK uncle, you did a pretty good job!

Haha perfect :lajawab:

Re: Turning indoor furniture to outdoor

So I had the same challenge, unused indoor furniture and need for outdoor furniture.

So I took a slightly different approach than TLK.

Step 1- I dusted snd vacuumed the club chairs
Step 2- I took pics and posted them for sale
Step 3- I sold them, had the buyers come pick it up
Step 4- I bought nice Adirondack chairs, and had them delivered

Re: Turning indoor furniture to outdoor

This approach is lacking fun part.

Re: Turning indoor furniture to outdoor

1- chairs are too low to sit lazily for long.
2-is back strong to hold weight ?
3- presentation is awesome.
