So we had these Ikea wooden futons (1 double and 3 single) with matresses that have been sitting in the garage collecting dust. Since we moved to our new place, I always wanted to use them in some creative way, and one day decided to convert these into outdoor furniture.
This is how the futons were. Just barewood. Good for indoor but not for outdoor
Here is one of the single one

Staining of 4 pieces took two hours. Cost was about $20
Now all you need is a small fireplace in the middle and you are all set for roasting marshmallows, eating s'mores and enjoying summer nights :) haha btw, TLK uncle, you did a pretty good job!
So I had the same challenge, unused indoor furniture and need for outdoor furniture.
So I took a slightly different approach than TLK.
Step 1- I dusted snd vacuumed the club chairs
Step 2- I took pics and posted them for sale
Step 3- I sold them, had the buyers come pick it up
Step 4- I bought nice Adirondack chairs, and had them delivered
