I’ll be blunt, I am disgusted to see people including many in this community who nothing better to do than complain about the most insignificant matters, while millions of people are in need for the basics. When I think of all the potential we have to help our fellow human beings, and yet we prefer to waste it on following our material comforts.
Well, here is an example of a good guy. Hope you take the time to watch:
If you do 2 good things a day, something that is selfless, imagine how much the world will become?
On a related note, I am going to make an open advertisement for an NGO that is close to my heart.
I have worked with them in Kohistan, Jalozai and inshallah will be going back this February to work on a project that I believe will be a true game changer for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir.
If people are more interested in learning more or want to check out the development works, please PM me.
we complain here as we cannot or will not complain in front of family...we chill, have a laugh and go back to our routine lives...
we may be paying huge amounts in sadka, zakat but dont need to advertise this...:)
good for you to want to help may allah reward you and may he guide us all onto the right path.....
Everyone has the right to complain about their life. Yeah, there's others who aren't as well off as some but seriously, you want people to start feeling guilty about enjoying their own lives?
I don't know why I'm ranting since you just complained too and I responded to your complaint. But whatever, the story is good mate. So more power to people who are doing good work for others. We all should!

If Muslims were paying “huge” amounts of Sadka, Zakat or doing the right things by helping our fellow human beings, there would be no hunger or destitution in this world. Do you know one of the reason why we fast during Ramadan? It’s to *feel *the hunger of poor.
I admire this person from India, despite belonging to a different religion, has more humanity that many in the Muslim world. Instead of complaining people should step up and do something about it.
Like I said, if you do two good deeds a day – no matter how small and tell others about it, this world will be a better place for all.

Er buddy, that's not really how economics works. Giving Sadaqah, Zakat and 'doing the right things' doesn't really cure hunger or destitution. I mean I agree we should be doing stuff wherever we can but you're clutching at straws with your statement there.
P.S. All good though, its just a technicality I've got a problem with.

Advertising one's good deeds takes away from the whole concept of it having been a good deed !
Yes you want to help someone , collect charity or advertize their plight then fair enough but what you did to help them in the way of monetary details etc does not need to be advertised .

So why don’t you explain HOW economics works? No, really go ahead, since you are intent on derailing my thread on doing good things for fellow human beings.
So lets hear your great treatise debunking centuries of Islamic finance, you Malthusian wannabe?
PS: Cut out the passive aggressive nonsense about whats good or not, just answer the question.

Just my thoughts !
I think we are talking about two separate things. You don’t need to advertise that you are giving a few million pounds to a particular cause, but it is important to get the word out about organizations and people who doing good things because they need money, resources and political support to make sure that their good work continues to be supported.
One of the biggest reasons why many people in India/Pakistan do not give to charity because they are afraid of their hard earned funds going to corrupt people/going to waste – this is where people can step in and actually advertise the NGOs/people they have worked with and investigated.
One of the lesser known areas for development work in Pakistan has to do with infant malnutrition. The major drivers behind the high infant mortality rates is related to poor nutrition of the mother/baby, particularly in the most deprived districts of the country. I found it interesting that pregnant women actually had decent (relatively speaking) access to healthcare providers (Physicians, nurses and midwives) but the infant mortality rate jumps in 0-8 month period and then normalizes.

I agree!
“And he who brings the Truth and he who confirms (and supports) it -- such are the men who do right. They shall have all that they wish for, with their Rabb (Only God, Cherisher and Sustainer). Such is the reward of those who do good: so that Allah will remit from them (even) the worst in their deeds and give them their reward according to the best of what they have done.” (Qur’an 39:33-35)
