inviting ppl isnt that same as inviting frens or family members and decorating ur home for ur loved one isn’t much of a sin either especially for kids - woh in choti choti cheezun say tou khush hotein hain.
When you invite too many people, they bring gifts (waste of money) and you decorating a place is also a waste of money. Islam clearly says not to waste money on any kind of celebrations, especially those occasions where we are copying non-muslim festivals. I’ve researched and celebrating birthdays is a nono :nono:
Inviting people doesnt mean u invite every tom dick n harry - just invite ur closest frens or just family, if they wana bring something for the kid then its upto them - u r not demanding and since when when toys n stuff have become waste of money?? Its for the kid. Lets say u r celebrating 5th birthday of ur child - taking her out to chucky cheese wont even make sense ot her much unless she get to have her fav doll to play with, right? so what if ur family member gets it for her - it will only make her happy and nothing more
Yaar "little" kids hi barey ho kar ye sab kuch expect kartey hain and then it's hard to reason out why these things are wrong. At that time they will ask us "but we have always been doing it in the past" and I will have no answer. Who doesn't like to see their kids happy, but sometimes you've gotta suck it up, take the bitter pill, and be firm.
Now, I am only against making a big hoopla of birthdays, but as far as setting aside time to have a meal with family and taking the kid out to anywhere he/she wants, I think that's okay. I am just not too big fan of celebrations. My birthday is a normal day for me, my wife and I went to dinner and that's it.
