Yaar "little" kids hi barey ho kar ye sab kuch expect kartey hain and then it's hard to reason out why these things are wrong. At that time they will ask us "but we have always been doing it in the past" and I will have no answer. Who doesn't like to see their kids happy, but sometimes you've gotta suck it up, take the bitter pill, and be firm.
Now, I am only against making a big hoopla of birthdays, but as far as setting aside time to have a meal with family and taking the kid out to anywhere he/she wants, I think that's okay. I am just not too big fan of celebrations. My birthday is a normal day for me, my wife and I went to dinner and that's it.
