I know what qutbah means/QUOTE]

Neither do I.

Re: Trick o' Treat anyone??

We get candies for kids and turn lights on outside. Not sure if it's related to China slowdown, but kids turnout is decreasing each year.

On Halloween day, it is also tradition to unleash our ugly on forums.

Re: Trick o' Treat anyone??

rumor has it that some of our guppans went out on Halloween night without any makeup on, and won the neighborhood scariest costume award.

Re: Trick o' Treat anyone??

Staying home, that is what I am doing this halloween.

Re: Trick o' Treat anyone??

No. It's ridiculous. Why o why would u send small children to strangers home asking for sweets?

See main words in last sentence .... Children....strangers.....sweets

Why? All year round we tell our kids to stay awayyyyyyyy from strangers and never take sweets or anything from one. And one day a year we " celebrate " it?

Makes no sense

And don't start me on religion views. It is satanic. Fun or not. Last time I checked fun could be had in many ways. Not dressed up as the devil on a street corner with a dollar bucket asking for a penny sweet.

What happened to celebrating Eid? Oh wait. Eid is just morning prayers and rest of the day is for sleep.

Re: Trick o' Treat anyone??

^ your transition from a hip girl to a khoosat aunty is scarier than any Halloween costume.

Re: Trick o' Treat anyone??

Hip? Because I would post insane stuff over in relationships? So I was on trend was I. Lol

And your damned if a fellow Muslim refers to you as a khoosat aunty because of my reservations about celebrating a satanic festival. I'm not that religious but I'm not completely immune to my inner faith. You draw the line somewhere don't u, or why be a follower of Islam. Why not convert.

Re: Trick o’ Treat anyone??

:hehe:

you are still borderline hip

Re: Trick o' Treat anyone??

But..but.. but.. most kids are accompanied by elders. And most of the times you just visit yr neighbor who are not that strangers to be seen first time.

And no.. plz no.. dont even compare Halloween with Eid.

Re: Trick o' Treat anyone??

So what if someone says that celebrating Halloween is haraam? That person cannot prevent you from dressing up in a costume or going trick or treating. Most likely the person telling you that they find it haraam is not going to damn you to hell either; they're not going to pass out a verdict on your fate in the after life much less give you a barometer reading of how much of a "Muslim" you are. At least I haven't come across anyone who has expressed their beliefs in such an emphatic way.

Other faiths such as Jehova's Witness don't celebrate birthdays or Halloween either. And when they express this and the reasons behind their refusal to participate...I haven't seen the halloween lovers mock or boo them for "policing" them or for saying that they are a real buzz-kill or that they're extreme. It's more of an "okay, you do whatever you wanna do...I'll do whatever I wanna do. End of story." Times now are such that those who say Astagfirullah mock the ones who celebrate the holidays and those who celebrate them mock the Astagfirullah sayers. Both groups look down on each other...one is seen as too lax; the other is seen as too rigid.

Re: Trick o' Treat anyone??

Also, I used to ...in a mocking way...say "haram" and "astaghfirullah"...and "la hawl" for many many things. Didn't think anything of it at the time. And I still can be careleas sometimes. Now I feel like one has to be careful about the tone and manner in which one is saying these religious phrases.....because we use them for dhikr and tasbeeh and they contain Allah's name. Are the phrases uttered with the intent to mock, to poke fun at another, to make others laugh, to sound funny? It's something to think about. What we say in such an off-handed manner may ...Allah k nazdeeq....carry more gravity.

Re: Trick o' Treat anyone??

It's not haram but I am not a fan of bringing this tradition to Pakistan.

Re: Trick o' Treat anyone??

We already have too much scary stuff, as it is.
