Great thread. Shoaib Akhtar has proved himself to be THE fastest bowler of the world by bowling in excess of 100mph. Even today, he can CONTINOUSLY bowl in the 90s. All of us have been immensely previleged to have watched this great player in action over the last few years. He was plagued by form and fitness issues over the years, but ironically over the last few months he has come across as a very sharp bowler who is almost at the peak of his form and to a great extent his fitness as well. This fact makes this retirement decision a sad one, as Pak cricket would have benefitted immensely from his talent had he stayed for a couple more years and managed himself better. The timing of this decision is not good, as it was in the middle of the world cup; but as reported in jang, his fight with kamran akmal in the dressing room was the last straw. Best wishes Mr. Shoaib Akhtar. You brought a lot of fun, flair and colour to cricket; and you will be sorely missed. If only you had smarter captains who knew how to manage you smartly.
