Re: Tribute to Pakistani Drama Writers

Rauf Khalid wrote most of the episodes. Shakir Uzair was the director. I like scene from Bushra Ansari's episode, where Rambo come to play VCR and short circuit incident happens.

Re: Tribute to Pakistani Drama Writers
Each and every scene of Aangan Tehra which has the most mind boggling repeat value I've ever witnessed on TV or film. There was a point in time when I used to watch it everyday and yet look forward to the next viewing. Even all these years later there are a gazillion terms that I use in my everyday conversation that have been borrowed or inspired from Aangan Tehra.
As far as writers are concerned definitely Anwar Maqsood, Kamal Ahmad Rizvi, Dr. Enver Sajjad and Ashfaque Ahmad. These were intellectual giants that had a command not just over language and characterization but had a solid world view in general, and are well versed in many languages and cultures unlike our digest writers of today with their myopic world view, zero knowledge of the world at large delivering sermons and perpetuating stereotypes about "Maghribi muashra" "mashriqi iqdaar" achi aurat/buri aurat etc etc.
Re: Tribute to Pakistani Drama Writers
There are many writers remaining Shahid Kazmi, Munnu Bhai, Anwar Sajjad, Shahid Mehmood Nadeem, Mirza Azhar Baig, Zakia Akbar.
Re: Tribute to Pakistani Drama Writers
and how can one forget Atta ul Haq Qasmi and his Jawad Jee, Sheeda Talle, hundi hundi thee etc.
Re: Tribute to Pakistani Drama Writers
The depiction of andron e shaher Lahore as portrayed by Atta ul Qasmi is simply amazing.
PS: Muhalle Dar (Masi Hundi Hundi) was written by Hamid Rana
Re: Tribute to Pakistani Drama Writers
khawaja and son was a nice play no doubt but i like atta-ul-haq qasmi more for his columns and his travelogue shouq-e-awrgi.
Re: Tribute to Pakistani Drama Writers
i love each and every scene of half plate, haft aasman and dhuwan, last scene of ab mera intezar kar was out of this world.
Re: Tribute to Pakistani Drama Writers
acha really? somehow I remember Sheeda Tallee as being a character from Mohallay dar. Qasmi sb. recently referred to the character in his column as being his most famous creation yet and now used extensively as a term of endearment for Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad.

somehow yesteryear's digest writers like Hameed Kashmiri, Zahida Hina and Naheed Sultana Akhtar were at par than today's digest writer -turned - Drama writers. They were able to convey their message without being too much preachy or borrowing lines from Faza'il e Aimal.

I think Sheeda Tally was a long play shown in some election. That was played by Ali Ejaz. I just checked titles of Muhalledar to reconfirm the writer

Almost all writers (including Amjad Islam Amjad, zahida Hina, Oriya Maqbool Jaan, Mustansar Hussain TaraR) now write columns.
