Meanwhile, the armed Lashkar of the Mahsud tribe on Thursday put on fire the newly built home in old Sarwekai area that had been used as a hideout by the militants during their ambush of a military convoy a few days ago. At least 12 soldiers were killed in the ambush and another 24 sustained injuries when eight of their military vehicles caught fire due to the militants’ attack. One Saidal, belonging to the Malikdinay sub-tribe of the Mahsuds, owned the house but he wasn’t found guilty and was, therefore, spared. The armed tribesmen showed great enthusiasm while burning and destroying the fort-like house and many of them remarked this would be the fate of all anti-state elements.
The Mahsud Lashkar is expected to demolish another house in the area today as part of its campaign to punish all those who are suspected of involvement in the deadly ambush of the military convoy. The name of the suspect whose home would be demolished was being kept secret.
The Lashkar is also looking for Waliur Rahman Burki, who is suspected as the leader of the group of 60 to 70 militants who ambushed the military convoy. Two of his brothers and one of their guests have already been arrested from their home in Kaniguram in the Mahsud territory in South Waziristan.
…
Meanwhile, the Lashkar of Mahsud tribe is carrying out the search of houses around Sarwaki where an army convoy was fired upon couple of days ago. They have said that Mahsud tribe will be responsible for the safety of all movements of security forces within their area of responsibility.
Malik Mehar Dil Khan, an elder of Mehsud tribe, gets ready to lead his people to track down tribesmen wanted for sheltering terrorists and find out where several kidnapped troops and government officials were being held. Notice he is wearing the badge of the Mehsud Rifles.

These same people I believe provided assistance to the central government during the kidnapping of a Punjab minister some months ago. The dedication of these people to the Pakistani state and help against the foreign terrorists is to be applauded, and I am sure most people in FATA are with them.
Ah yes... these are the kind of tribals who you can always count on to help out Pakistan in its hour of need - when Pakistan calls on them, they stand tall and proud to do whatever is required, and are a truly admirable people.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the traitors around Wana... who are instead fighting against Pakistan.
If I understand my history correctly, these same tribal "loyalists" were used by the britsh against the freedom fighters/terrorists. The more things change.........
Imdad Ali please back up your conjectures with proof. Secondly for one who normally shouts down our throats about extermists, how come you are suddenly worried about their capture and timely deaths?
They all deserve to die. Every last one of them. Al Qaeda and its groups deserve no quarter. Now these men prove to be true muslims, ones who will stand by their people and not let "so called muslims" (ones who kill innocent muslim women and children) get away alive. All the power to them.
For proof, read hsitory of tribal opposition to the british. fakir of ipi, ajab khan afridi etc.
I am against real terrorists and their supporters sitting in parliment, madrassas, masjids, ghq etc., not against what the govn't tells me are terrorists.
So, who is this "they" that you refer to? People living in some neighbourhoods of karachi are also terrorists according to the govnt.
Proof is in al qaeda's own words. I am not at all aginst killing of al qaeda/taliban elements in pakistan, but what of the people who invited/created them in the first place?
If we have to raze houses to teach a lesson, start with Hamid Gul, Mirza Aslam Beg and the various retired Generals and the numberdars of Jihad in the “Strategic Community” who preached “strategic depth” and pushed Pakistan into a pit of snakes.
It does not seem so. Your hatred of the military (and Pakistan) blinds you to the fact these cowards hiding in WANA are terrorists, using our territory for their grudges against their national governments.
These tribals standing by Pakistan are true patriots!
Right. Instead of killing and hunting those people who would kill your mother without a single thought, you wanna go after people who have desired to save the country and protect us?

We are always hearing about how the Afghans/Pashtuns are proud and fiercely independent people? Then we hear that they were taking orders from external powers. What a contradictory argument some have huh?
Inshallah, more and more tribal leaders will step forward and defend the Pakistani state...
right....the corruption of BBB and NS. The ****ed up policies of the political parties through out the 90s, is not responsible. Its was only these 2 men for 10 years. Great. This guy is a genius.
He rather support and defend people who kill muslim women and children then support his own country. Shows you what kinda pakistan he is.
malik, i dont think that any tribal is anti pakistan...not even the waziris...these tribals have their own centuries old system, which we cant change over night...these things take time to change...once literacy, reaches that area things will start changing...
i dont think that the tribals would mind pakistani forces in FATA...the problem starts when the army starts pounding their houses, and killing their people...i was reading in some papers, that even the Mehsoud, and Orakzai tribes have warned the government of the consequences if they send the army there...
what i and many like me feel that the goverment is complicating things...similar to the Nuclear fiasco...when the country needs unity most, government is pushing the country towards a civil war sort of position...the government could and should have solved this problem through negotiations...oh well!! we can sit and talk with the indians, but not pakistanis...
to me there is no military solution to the problem...only political solution that can save the face of the parties concerned...the military solution will only aggravate the situation...i was reading a news in asia times according to which divisions are appearing even in the army about the ongoing operation...if the operation is prolonged, and if the damages inflicted on the tribals increase, that would provide a very good base for the nationalists, and RAW, already present in Afghanistan to cash in on the situation...

I dont get this. How is the military's fault for going after murderers and criminals? These people are sheltering Al Qaeda and people who have helped in the killing of muslims. How can you sit here and defend their position?
