I like your last sentence - I think the best bowling figures were returned by Ganguly today. lol
Fielding was lousy, saale sab sahib ban gaye. If we go back to our original match-winning SG/Sachin opening pair the risk is of losing SG cheap on bouncy wickets and leaving the middle order vulnerable. Now pls don't tell me Badani will fill that slot....he just isn't a Ganguly.
That missing all rounder again!
But on the other hand, this match could have been won if Yuvraj, our supposed all rounder, had played a manly innings. Another thing - Kaif should come in at 3 or 4.

The problem is not your batting, it is the BOWLING. Get reasonable bowlers and restrict the oppostion to around 250/270 and you will win the match. At the moment there is only Zaheer and Nehra and if they dont fire the opposition gets away. You cannot play against Australia with only three regular bowlers and hope to win the match, regardless of how good your batting side is.
Once again the same fact is highlighted that if your six batsmen dont score its highly likely tht seventh one isnt gonna do that either. I can recall only two matches when India benefitted from playing 7 batsmen. One Natwest final in England and second is ICC Trophy match against Zimbabwe. Other than that, this appracoh failed in Worldcup as well when Dinesh Mongia hardly contributed. They need to include a proper wicketkeeper because Dravid cant keep and Parthiv cant bat. And Zaheer has to get Australian hoodoo out of his mind.
347 runs given up for 2 wickets and you guys are criticizing batting? I think not, look at your supposed pace bowlers. Zaheer Khan is grossly overrated, it is time to give someone else a chance. The guy is 25 and has very few accomplishments to his name. Try Irfan Pathan or this Patel guy in his spot. Or if nothing else play one less batsman and try out a new bowler.
Australia is once again in a league of their own. Remember, even if Australia had their 2nd XI team, they would still be world champs.
India seriously needs to think about their bowling problem. This has been going on for too long now, and its time they actually smarten up and get on with times.

What ever happened to Dinesh Mongia?

maybe thats an exaggeration, but well they still have their second line of bowling and look what they are doing. they're the best, the absolute best. they're gonna win all world cups until the end of time! Well, mayb thats an exaggeration as well! :)
that was truly thumping stuff! Both Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting needed the big knocks - this is Adam's first One Day ton in what i think is almost a year. That was a very good performance - much better from Australia - now that is more like it and more what they are capable of - also that was their third highest score in One-Day International history - well done guys.
and with such a weakend bowling attack they did amazingly well - i mean it must be scary to think what will happen when the 3 quicks return - and god knows what the rest of the world is gonna do when Shane Warne returns!
anyhow - it's do or die for India and New Zealand.
India will win, mainly because they will be at home with the home crowd support (even though the Indian's cheered like hell for NZ against Aus). Fleming is a good captain, and his experience could play a factor in deciding this game. Call: Close game!
None of us has played in Kolkata, a venue that we have heard a lot about. If we win tomorrow, there is the added incentive of playing not only in the final, but also on a ground that is counted among the greatest venues in the world. (Stephen Fleming).
