Number is not mentioned in quran, but in hadees.
Existance of hoor is mentioned in quran, you can take the meaning as according to your understanding.
I think the number 72 is not so much important to waste any more time.
And Mirza Ghalib has a different take on this issue, as he considered the age factor too :)
