n Conditions in NZL will be pretty difficult for our batsmen to adjust ...
Don't you think Malik n Akmal should be playing to get familiar with bouncy wickets?

There could be many reasons,
a. either they were too tired, cause of the very long flight (based on the sasta ticket bought for them by PCB).
b. They were over confident, by playing on the 'bouncy' wicket of Dubai :).
c. Or Tour selection committee wanted to test the other options to know form those reserve players are.

For me, Abdul Rauf definitely needs a chance in the test.. he could be a good bowler, whereas, Yasir Arafat sadly isnt a test class bowler.

Umar Gul is a good bowler, but not a very good test class bowler.. I know that he has done good in ODI and T20, but he lacks the 'Test' class in him. Like Rana uncle, or Razzaq, they are not 'test' class as well.

I agree - right now open the bowling with Aamer and Asif or Aamer and Abdur Rauf......
3 pacers, 1 leggie, 1 offspinner...or gullu as medium / fast...

^^right, its winter in pakistan so they get winter kits - when its summer in pakistan - they will be given summer kits...why should it be anyother way...:)

Fawad Alam made 77 from 145 balls not 231 balls.

Pakistani bowlers bowled 71 overs in the 2nd innings and only got 2 wickets. Thats not a good sign. I think MoYo didnt take this match seriously thats why he rested the first choice players and in the 2nd innings gave Abdur Rauf only 6 overs.

I would think from the people who didnt play this match, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal (VC), Umar Gul are guaranteed to play. However, I am not sure if Aamir is test material either. I know neither is Umar Gul, but really, he is our best option after Asif in the test team. I think Asif, Gul & Abdur Rauf should be our pace option, and quite alarming to see Kaneria being ineffective for 22 overs in the second innings against a New Zealand A squad. Yasir Arafat might be most experienced in these conditions because of his England county cricket, however, he just didnt cut it as a attacking/wicket taking bowler at test level. If he did something with the bat in this tour match maybe he should have been given a chance. But I think now it looks most likely to be:

^^^ u sure like being picky..I miss read the minutes of batting to balls faced…he batted for 231 minutes and faced 145 balls…
