Torture at Abu Ghraib (MERGED)

I hope criminal charges, in addition to the court martials, are also brought up against these conjurors of abuse and neglect for the heinous, diabolical, and fiendish acts of sadism. I hope they get the maximum verdict allowed by the judicial system for rapes, torture and murder. I hope these @#%$^&##&*%#@#$@%$$^#^ (fill in the blanks with your own curse words) are made to suffer in their prison cells.

Does “acting inappropriately with a dead body” count?
Rumsfeld did not describe the photos, but U.S. military officials told NBC News that the unreleased images showed U.S. soldiers severely beating an Iraqi prisoner nearly to death, having sex with a female Iraqi female prisoner and “acting inappropriately with a dead body.” The officials said there was also a videotape, apparently shot by U.S. personnel, showing Iraqi guards raping young boys.
I really don’t like seeing these families on TV or in the papers. It just clouds things up. (And you can tell these are real Rednecks we’re dealing with!) But what they all say, ‘they were just doing what they were told!’, that is utter BS. A soldier should be able to recognize an unlawful order, carrying one out even in ignorance is still a crime. ‘But she was just posing!’ Why was she smiling? ‘She was smiling at the person behind the camera!’ Hmm.. just carrying out orders? doing your job? What possible intelligence value is a dead body??

“acting inappropriately with a dead body” :disgust:

my my my my my Iraqi rapes while a scum from the other side of the world was having sex…

Abdali bro, have you ever been to WV? Where these fkers live is enough punishment from G-d.

Seriously, the US army is full of rednecks and thugs…the only decent group USED to be the officer class from West Point.

OH MY GOD!

"Dog attacking a naked Iraqi detainee"

Degenerate barbaric systemic abuse.

Hail the great American liberator and his sick perverted sense of justice, a building falls in New York and 10,000 Iraqi’s are bombed to death. But this is still not enough to fulfil the blood lust, rapes, torture, beatings, sodomy and yet more murder continue, whilst back home no one knows who dropped the building or why.

Countless millions believed that they had the moral high ground and would bomb the world into freedom, the actions they so strongly believed in a few months ago are reflected back today.

“I supported the war to remove Saddam and his torture”

“I supported the war to remove WMD”

“I supported the war to avenge 911”

You who supported this unjust action, this invasion and occupation, this brutality, this murder, enjoy your fruits. Enjoy the lie.

Theres much more in Iraq than meets the eye. I have an inkling they r out there for something really big....something that maybe is very beneficial for their long term strategic goals....

How shamless can you get!!!

US military confirms existence of horrific pictures and video
By Andrew Buncombe in Washington

09 May 2004

The Bush administration was bracing itself last night for the release of new pictures and video footage from Abu Ghraib which show US soldiers having sex with an Iraqi woman prisoner, troops almost beating a prisoner to death, and the rape of young boys by Iraqi guards at the jail.

Senior officials have warned that the new images and details of the abuse and torture at the prison west of Baghdad will be even more shocking than those already released. They will undoubtedly place even more pressure on President George Bush and his beleaguered Defence Secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, as they desperately try to limit the political damage from the growing scandal.

NBC News has quoted military officials as saying that the new photographsalso show US soldiers “acting inappropriately with a dead body”. This may refer to a picture, which The Washington Post described but did not publish, of Sabrina Harman, one of seven reservists charged with abuses, posing with thumbs up next to a decaying corpse.

NBC also reported that the rape of young boys by Iraqi guards, apparently in a special section of the prison, had been filmed by US soldiers.

There are even suggestions that the murder of a prisoner has been recorded. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina questioned Mr Rumsfeld on Friday about why the abuse had not been detected earlier. “The American public needs to understand we’re talking about rape and murder here. We’re not just talking about giving people a humiliating experience.”

The new images will further rock the Bush administration, suffering its worst crisis yet after photographs showing US army reservists abusing and sexually humiliating prisoners caused international revulsion and outrage. But the knowledge that the abuse was much more widespread, and that there are more shocking images to come, is threatening even more problems for Mr Bush as he prepares to hand over sovereignty to an Iraqi government on 30 June.

Further evidence emerged, meanwhile, that the abuse of prisoners by military police reservists was ordered by military intelligence officers, CIA operatives or even by privately hired civilian interrogators. Ms Harman said they were told to break the prisoners down in preparation for questioning.

“They would bring in one or several prisoners at a time already hooded and cuffed. The job of the MP [military police] was to keep them awake, make it hell so they would talk,” Ms Harman, 26, from northern Virginia, told The Washington Post. “The person who brought them in would set the standards on whether or not to ‘be nice’.”

A total of seven reservists from the 372nd Military Police Company based in Cumberland, Maryland, have now been charged over the abuse, including Lynndie England, 21, who was photographed with a prisoner on a leash. Seven other soldiers have been reprimanded, and several relieved of command.

Rumours of the existence of more pictures have been circulating in Washington for days and were confirmed on Friday by Mr Rumsfeld, who said they were “sadistic, cruel and inhuman”.

The investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, who revealed the extent of the abuse, warned earlier last week: "It’s going to get much worse. This kind of stuff was much more widespread.

“There are videotapes of stuff that you wouldn’t want to mention on national television … There were things done to young boys.”

President Bush insisted that while the abuse of Iraqi prisoners was “a stain on our country’s honour and reputation”, it would not deflect his mission in Iraq. ** Abdalis Mirchi Masala **- * you have no honour you lying scum bag *

“[The photographs] do not reflect our values,” he said. ** Abdalis Mirch Masala ** - * Whoe

** OIL **

Animals do not stoop to this level.

Where are you Hosni Mubarak? Sheikh Zayed? King Abdullah? Shame.

The most bizarre pictures were allegedly used as computer screensavers by the brave Yank and British troops. If this is what you mean by democracy, please give us back a perpetual dictatorship.

Iraq abuse allegations multiply, BBC, 10 May 2004

More allegations of mistreatment by US and British prison staff in Iraq have emerged in the international media.

The alleged abuses include the stripping and beating of a 12-year-old girl and an imam being forced to wear women’s underwear and locked up with female prisoners.

According to Italy’s La Repubblica newspaper, a group of Sunni clerics is compiling a list of complaints from inmates at Baghdad’s infamous Abu Ghraib jail.

The Council of the Ulema is about to make its findings public, the paper said.

The acts described by the alleged victims seem to have one trait in common - all involve some form of humiliation or degradation, often of a sexual nature.

Several former prisoners reported having been forced to strip and wear female underwear in front of fellow prisoners, according to Le Repubblica. Other alleged abuses include forcing prisoners to simulate homosexual acts - a taboo in the Arab world.

A 30-year-old imam from Baghdad was arrested after urging people to expel occupying forces in his sermon, La Repubblica reported. He was taken to Abu Ghraib prison where he was questioned by female guards.

“They told me to take off my clothes. I stripped down to my underpants but they shouted I had to take those off, too,” the imam is quoted as saying. “I stood there, naked. I was ashamed, while they were making fun of my embarrassment. At that point, one of the wardens took something red out of a bag. It was very small panties. ‘You can put that on if you are ashamed’ she said.”

The imam was then put into a cell with 16 women, some of whom knew him as their spiritual leader, La Repubblica says.

The inmates at Abu Ghraib reportedly include children. Suhaib Baz, a journalist for the Arab-language television station al-Jazeera, told Britain’s Independent newspaper that he saw a little girl being stripped and beaten at the jail.

“She was naked and screaming and calling out to him as they beat her,” Mr Baz says.

He added that a teenage boy was made to carry two jerry cans full of water, and an American soldier would beat him with a stick if he stopped. The boy eventually collapsed and the guards stripped him and poured cold water over him, Mr Baz says.

“When he recovered, he saw his father dressed in women’s underwear and the Americans laughing at him.”

Mr Baz also claimed that guards at the prison would take gruesome pictures of the abuses in some sort of bizarre competition.

He said that winning pictures would be used as computer screensavers by the troops.

A prisoner released from Abu Ghraib earlier this week told La Repubblica that inmates were kept naked all the time and that air conditioning would be switched on in the winter “to freeze us to death”.

“Every evening the soldiers would tell me that they were going to pour hot water and sand into my ears, and sometimes they did. It turned out to be a cement-like substance, and the pain was unbearable,” he said.

“I screamed, I cried, and they pretended not to hear and kept on pouring water and sand in my ears through a funnel.”

In an unrelated interview to al-Jazeera, Hudhayfah al-Shabib, a Jordanian student who spent some time at the prison, described similar practices to which he was exposed during his detention.

“They would interrogate us for 15 minutes and then move us to the torturing room. There they would pour cold water on us and put us naked in front of an air conditioner”.

If all this is happeneing in prisons where there is some form of access available, imagine what will be happening in Guantanamo Bay. Shame on the so called liberators and champions of human rights.

Yes and those in Gitmo are enemy combatants and not prisoners of war, meaning the Geneva convention doesnt apply to them (It wouldnt matter if it did, as we saw from the Iraqi prison abuse).

And to top it all off, the individual responsible for running G. Bay has been brought in to oversee the Al Ghraib prison, (Major General Geoffrey Miller).

Dogs and cats, cockroaches and rats - they don't stoop to this level. Everytime i see these pictures, truly it feels like i am seeing pornography committed by animals. These are pornographic sadistic dehumanizing images of human beings. These men - the hooded man with electrical wires attached to his genitals - he is someone's father, someone's Abbu, someone calls him daddy. This is so sick and repulsive it is beyond belief and beyond articulate expression.

There is NO moral decency left whatsoever in the current British and American administrations. B&B should rot in hell for this.
