Toronto

Can Toronto based guppies tell me what the city is like.

What are the hot tourist things to do?

Best residential neighbourhoods?

Sights ect?

Thanks,

LBG

Best neighbourhood Jane and Finch! :dhimpak:

Isnt there like a

www.torontoguide.com

or something?

Something akin to www.nyc.com

Thats a fine site.

try toronto.com :-)

Good neighbourhoods to live in t.o are North York and (some parts of) Scarborough. If youre into living close to LOTS of desis then theres always Mississauga and Brampton. Just try to stay away from west end toronto.

Toronto is a great city, make sure you eat at some of the ethnic restaurants. Go visit Bloor street and Eaton Center for shopping.

And the big tourist sights?

  • CN Tower is the classic. Go to Niagara Falls at the border.
  • Hockey Hall of Fame.
  • Ontario Science Museum

There are no major "happening" tourist districts like London then?

The most happening street is called Yonge street. But then again its the longest street in the world. So, go figure !

Cool man.

I may have to visit. I want badly to go to NY, but I fear the probing and stuff. I have nothing to hide, but they'd done over so many innocent people-I dont want to be the next one. :(

Toronto seems nice. :)

Be prepared for questioning in Canada also. Security everywhere is tight now.

British officials, or Canadian pnes, have not stated searching everyone who is a tad brown.

:)

Or have they?

:(

Scarborough??? I don't think getting mugged would be on his "Things To Do" list while visiting toronto. and besides that place is filled with South Asians (Pakistanis, indians, Sri lankans). I would recommend staying close to downtown cuz thats the place where most of the stuff happens and you'll only know about them by staying there. Don't consider staying in the sub-urbs cuz theres practically nothing to do there.

If you can get past the american side, you dont have much to worry about.

Huh??? What r u talking about??
I said its filled with south asians becuz u said that mississauga is filled with them when infact Scarborough has even more desis.
Think before you write anything dude.

yonge street? dont be stupid. go to bloor.

i'd also recommend you visit unionville for a bit, it's a suburb but beautiful. you'll enjoy downtown unionville. viva unionville! :)

Is there any Desi Bazaar like you get in England - eg Southall etc. Something like "Little Pakistan" or "Little India" ? I did not see anything like that when I went to Toronto.

I have heard that in Vancouver, the second language is punjabi and streets have desi names ! I would probably go there one day to have a look !!

In toronto theres gerrard street just east of greenwood but thats more Little India than anything pakistan. The only good pakistani thing there is Lahore Tikka house. And then you have albion and finch which is more like little punjab :-)

What i've noticed that there isn't one strong island of pakistani people in the city. Instead they are spead out evenly throughout the city. Like theres hardly any area where you wont find a decent concentration of pakistanis. Same with mississauga.
