:) How was the food? I'm thinking of booking it for my mendhi because the dance floor is so big but I haven't tried the food.
And this might be silly but is the food tasting before or after I sign for the hall?

Hmmm I was doing a lot of running around that day, so I'm not completely sure...but I do think it was pretty good. It definitely wasn't bad, because if it was, I would have remembered that.
I don't know about food tasting, but go ahead and ask the hall!
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

If you are interested in a wedding coordinator I would suggest Richha Arora of Arora Wedding & Event Planning
My friends used her services last summer and she was amazing!

Hey Everyone
So first of all this forum is great! i got so much help from it in all different aspects, just wish I found it during my sisters wedding planning lol
So i've been looking around mississuagua-toronto area to find a nice venue....I went to look at Woodbine, Red Rose, mississuagua convention center, Versailles and A couple of others...and honestly nothing seems to be satisfying :(....some of the halls are surrounded by a lot of buidings...others are creepy looking to some extent lol.....so does anyone have any other sugesstions?
btw im thinking Versailles for the mendhi, but ppl are telling me the food is bad...and i havent gone in for a tasting yet....any ideas?
Oh and ive narrowed down other stuff so far Make-Up: Dimple Shah (nvr used her b4...but from here i think she'll be good) or Shirleys/Maggies (My sisters makeup for her wedding and my makeup and hair for my engagement ...turned out great! )
Dj/Music: Im opting for the in house speakers with the hall and my ipod lol :D....at our family weddings all the dancing is over with by the mendhi...
Deco: mendhi and shaadi both are being handled by some decorator...have a few names from Sughaag Magazine for those of you who live in Canada
Im considering gettting a Wedding Coordinator...
Any help will be sooo ....welll helpful
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
Guys... i kno this has been discussed over n over again..
but does anyone know an outdoor venue for 250 ppl with a reasonable price ... say $50-60pp... is that even possble?
open to anywhere in the GTA
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like ![]()
^ not very likely… you might get 50 to 60 per person for the just the event space but it would definitely be additional for food, tent rental, tables and chairs. i paid $76 per head at parkwood estate for food/tent/tables, chairs, serving staff etc., and the fee for the venue was $1400 separately for ceremony and reception. www.parkwoodestate.com
keep in mind though, they work with designated caterers so you won’t get pure desi food. they did halal beef and chicken for us but it was steaks on the bbq and an italian chicken dish. if you’re open to a fusion menu, the food is very good!
**Outdoor Wedding Receptions & Catering **
The award-winning Formal Garden is one of the most stunning gardens in all of Canada, and a unique surrounding for your outdoor wedding reception.
Receptions are held under a marquee tent and are planned through the Parkwood Tea House selected caterer. The caterer handles the arrangement of all food and beverage requirements as well as the tent rentals.
Two locations are available for outdoor receptions. The Tennis Court holds up to 250 guests and the Formal Garden holds up to 140 guests. The reception fee is $675. A staffing fee of $50/hour applies. SOCAN fees are additional -the standard fee of $59.17 covers a reception that has dancing.
These were the caterers when we got married- you’ll have to check and see if they’re still the preferred caterers- http://kingscourtcatering.com/menus/your-reception-venue/
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
yeahhh i called them... theyre negotiating with their caterer sooo theyre gonna call me back with pricing once they have the contract signed.
playing the waiting game for now!
thanks tho!
Re: Candles Banquet Hall for May 21, 2011
Candles Banquet Hall ($1000.00 deposit paid for May 21 2011 - you can have it for $750.00)
Hey guys, my wedding has been cancelled and since the deposit is non-refundable, I am trying to sell this contract to another party who might be interested in renting out Candles Banquet Hall for their event. The room fits upto 240 guests. Per person menu starts from $27 and up. I have heard their food is really good. Chair covers, table covers, napkins (any colour) & center pcs included. 5% gratuity charge (awesome deal)!!!
Please contact me ASAP @ [EMAIL="[email protected]"][email protected].
If you want it for another day, we could work something out with Hamid uncle (owner of Candles)
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
Sorry to hear that nsyed...
Does anyone have experience working with Bombay Palace?
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
i got married at Bombay Place almost 2 years ago. They redid the outside and also the main front foyer, and it looks a lot nicer than when i got married. The food was good as well. I went to another wedding there this past summer, and i really liked the appetizers.
There is also a masjid next door, which is really convenient if anyone wants to go pray.
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
Yeah, I liked the hall... I just wasn't sure about the uncle that talked to me n my fiance. I think at this point its only cuz of him that i'm skeptical abt the place :|
he wasn't rude or anything...jus didnt seem 2 accomodatng
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
the sikh guy? that's odd, he was really nice to us. There were two guys that we dealt with, and i thought they were both really nice and took the time to help us. we had our nikkah next door, and wanted to serve appetizers before hand in the hall (around 4ish), so we were able to do that - have the guests first come to the hall first to eat some appetizers, and then to the masjid next door for the nikkah (which took an hour or two), and then we all went back to the hall for dinner.
they didn't mind us coming and going.
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
Hmmm yeh i thot it was odd too cuz I met him @ one of the bridal shows n he was super nice n friendly.
Maybe he was having an off day or smthing. I'll go n see him again
Was it ok price-wise? He seemed intent on getting us to increase our guest list lol
i think the lowest he quoted us for a friday night was 35 + tax
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
^ and the 35 was too basic obviously
i guess thats standard pricing tho :)
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
sorry, im not sure about the pricing. but i think it must have been a good deal since i didn't want to spend too much and go all out on our wedding.
he was really accomodating, since our guest list was initially 300, but the day before my dad invited a whole bunch of people (so last minute), and the hall guys said no problem and were able to accomodate them as well. phew.
that really stressed me out.
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
lol k ill have to speak to him agen n hopefully its good :)
the dreaded guest list... im trying to keep it low n my fiances family wants it huge lol
Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(
we split it...since we only had once function, we decided that we could call whoever we wanted, and we'll pay for our own guests. everyone was fine with it.
