Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

how so got back a quote from royal ambassador.....and they quoted me $130/head!!! that a lil excessive!

as for solarium book solid till 2010! *sigh and I thought a yr b4 the wedding would be long enough.....

if it helps anyone out...im checking out Sultans Palace and Tent in downtown t.o as a possible menhdi venue....looks pretty sweet ...arabic food so itll be a nice change...im going in to talk to them over the weekend ..lets see what happens

P.S: thanks for all the help guys!!!
P.P.S: went for a food tasting at Woodbine banquest hall.....the food was AMAZING! soo yummy! plus they plan on updating the place like there hotel with looks really nice...the only thing is the guy was either too laid back or didnt really care...wasnt really staisfied with his attitude....anyone else notice this

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

the sultan's tent isn't really a mehendi type of place... the way its laid out, everyone would be sitting at long tables and chairs and there wouldn't be any room for dances- if you're having a typical mehendi, that is. plus they only offer halal lamb- everything else is not halal, in case thats a concern. also they're pretty pricey. good place to meet up with friends though! their belly dancers are good.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :frowning:

guys, i had to post this- the Royal York is now offering an Indian package! http://www.fairmont.com/NR/rdonlyres/2D4851E6-6532-43BF-9F5F-538206CD2E5A/0/RYH_Indian_Wedding_Packages_May09.pdf

totally makes sense considering their head chef and most of their cooking staff are Indian. i remember going for a tasting there a couple of years ago- really delicious food!

and i just saw this was posted last year… what venue did you choose?

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

WELL I WS THERE last week in canada for wedding,,and hall was nice,,located in brampton,,Chandni..food was excellent.and decor too..

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

Everyone and their mother is getting married at Chandni these days. Apparently it's the new Woodbine! hehe

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

Thanks so much for this post! I've been on the lookout for unique wedding locations in Toronto and some of these are perfect.

How many months in advance have you/will you guys book your hall? I won't be able to until about 6 months before the wedding so I'm quite concerned I won't get my desired date :(

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

Try Candles Banquet Hall. The owner and his son's are great to deal with, the food is good, the hall is beautiful. IA that's where I'm having my shaddi.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

k i am going to make yur live VERY simple, my brother got married recenlty n we went to EVERY hall in toronto, n he best ones where

Chandni Banquet hall in bramoton, is PERFECTTTTTTTT for the mendhi, because the hall has no dividers, n the dance floor is like 50 feel large, n their food i prolly the best desi food u find

for shaadi, i cant believe u didnt go to Le Jardin!!!! the hall itself frm outside is set up like a Italina castle and its ina very isolated area even though its in vaughn n not far at all, n they have the most beauftul halls i have seeen

from where u went, i dont know if these halls will fit yur budget, espeically le jardin its like 40 per head in summer n goes highe

n i really think u sud get a DJ n everything for yur wedding, i reccoment ABCI they r they r the BEST go seach them on facebook u can see their videos n the r young pakisni boys n they r best in the industry by FAR!

I have been to Mississauga convention center couple of times and i thinks its the best one ..

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

Are you still looking? I'm a Manitoba bride and I had to plan my whole Toronto wedding from Winnipeg. :D

Anyway, we settled with Pavillion Royale; the location is a little silly (in a strip mall) but the starlight ballroom is really unique. Its a circular room with a massive skylight over head-- definitely something you don't see in every hall. Also their prices are very reasonable and you can cater from outside. :D

If you still need help, I can give you out 'wedding venue list' where we collected all the halls we were interested in with their phone numbers and prices. :D

Le Jardin is amazingggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is a bit on the pricey side...they do allow outside catering...buh it's still a very expensive hall!!! buh stunningg!!!!

for makeup Shirley wu is the BEST!!!!

Decor - We used Dream Party decor for our mehndi...Raj did an amazing job!!!
for the shaadi we used Diya decor - Midu verma is very accommodating and a pleasure to work with.... and her work was absoluty breathtaking...
for our walima we used Karma Kreations...Piyush...he has very unique ideas and very different from the rest!!!!
all 3 events were done from different decorators..
you guys have prolly seen their work in our shaadi hilight video and pictures that have been up on gupshup many times...Rabia and Omair's Shaadi hilites...

if you need any more help dont hesitate to ask!!!!

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

i had diya decor for my mehendi too- they're very good!!

I think the person who started the thread has solved her problem because it was posted about a year ago.

Sanya, would you be so kind enough to post the list here so that other people who want the info can look here. :)

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

Haha, well there goes my first post. :)

I'd love to share my list, but its a massive table of over 20 rows; is there an option whereby I can insert html code?

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :frowning:

Has anyone attended a desi wedding at Crystal Fountain Banquet Halls?

Crystal Fountain Banquet Halls – reflecting the tradition of warmth and elegance

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

^ i called them but the owner was very rude- he basically said he makes more money from gora weddings since he sells alcohol at those, so he's not willing to rent it out to desi people unless you put down a ridiculous deposit. in my case, he said $18,000. just for the use of the space. whatever.

also an option to check out is the westin price hotel at york mills and don mills. they allow outside catering on friday and sunday. its a beautiful, very new hotel, and very modern contemporary in style. the hall is rented one event at a time so you're not sharing your space with 3 other weddings and its beautiful and very open. you have a separate parking lot, entrance, and cocktail space with it too. plus they're situated on parkland so, weather permitting, it makes for great outdoor pictures.

we looked into le jardin for my bro's event too. it is GORGEOUS- i mean, seriously beautiful. (as an aside, the coordinator there had the biggest rock on her engagement ring that i've ever seen outside of a magazine! easily 3 carats and stunning). they wanted a $6000 base fee and included the hall rental, tables, chairs, chargers, etc. in that cost. the per person cost for outside catering was extra and they were willing to do a cash/no tax deal. the only issue was they only had their middle hall available and as beautiful as it was, it just wasn't a showstopper like their side halls so we passed it up.

if you have a higher than average budget, say, 200-300 people and about $50,000+ to spend (it happens!), then i would highly, highly recommend the many and various downtown venues- the park hyatt, the AGO, and the royal york all have extremely helpful wedding coordinators who are very willing to work with you. the AGO has an excellent menu- i mean, amazing food. its fusion desi/canadian but sooooo good.

also, i found the royal york wasn't as expensive as i'd thought, they have a halal, desi menu on offer for about $90 per head buffet and i believe $120 per head sit down. the issue with them was the same as le jardin - i wanted to book their Ballroom but it was already gone. it really is a beautiful room and their other spaces weren't as nice, imho.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

I've heard that Chandni is building a new hall in Brampton. Apparently, construction is still going on but people have ALREADY booked weddings there for 2010. I don't know when the expected completion date is. I really like the food at the current hall, but the hall itself is OK. It sort of has become the 'new' Woodbine but Woodbine looks MUCH better. Too bad their food isn't ALL that :-( Their charges are VERY resonable though.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

^ I just called Chandni and tehy said the hall opened LAST Saturday!!! I think I might go check it out this weekend.

Re: (Toronto) Getting Married Next Year and So Far No Venue I Like :(

The hall at Chandni that has just been constructed is relatively smaller in size though as compared to the other ones there
