This is my first post - yay! I was finally approved to post!! Exciting stuff.
I have been looking around here, and I can see that some people have placed orders through Bunto Kazmi without visiting Pakistan etc. I know when I have contacted them, they are nothing short of professional. Unfortunately the budget is a problem. I am very busy with school so I unfortunately cannot visit Pakistan to do all my wedding shopping :(.
Have you ordered through any designers while staying in Canada? How did things turn out? What was the timeline like? I have e-mailed Sana Safinaz and have not heard back from them. Same issue with Maria B and Umar Sayeed. What other designers are you guys looking at these days?
Would you dare order from people who are not well known designers?
Where are some good places to find an affordable dress (similar to Bunto style) in Toronto?
I would ideally like to spend 200,000 to 300,000 rupees max (that is 2000-3000 dollars).

i think samia ahmed has the ability to give a bunto look to her bridals.. check out her fb page. I'm not too sure about her prices but I think i remember reading here that she is reasonable. hopefully someone with some experience can comment!

Hi SilverLining! I'm in the same exact boat as you are in. I emailed a list of designers and I feel like a lot of them are hesitant to process online orders. This includes Nomi Ansari and Mehdi (who I thought after all this fame, would be willing to process online orders).

Oh and I would also like to mention - my first option is Saira Shaikh. I think shes the best person out here (in Mississauga) who has absolutely stunning bridal outfits. You should visit her

She is absolutely amazing in her service and also in quality of work.
I have found that most people who are locally situated are unable to beat the price of ordering a replica online from a designer in Pakistan like proto.

If you must have a designer dress, go visit Shabi's in Toronto, they have two locations, one in Richmond Hill (which is their flagship store) and the other one in Brampton, they carry some of the designer's stuff such as Tena Durrani (which I have ordered dresses from for my sister's wedding and loved them, she herself is very professional, her staff not so much)

Try visiting dream couture in mississauga she carrys nickie nina bridals and also does bridals herself she did an amazing job on mine...she is also open to bargaining.

I think if you're ordering while staying in Canada, have a longer timeframe in the case of haggling and figuring out shipment, and all those extra details will take time. Start the process several months in advance! However, I think Bunto and Umar Sayeed bridals are usually around/over ~$5000? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
There are so many other amazing designers these days! I def. think if Bunto is outside of your budget then you have nothing to worry about. Some of my personal favourites are: Nasreen Shaikh, Ammar Shahid, Tena Durrani, Saadia Mirza, Nickie Nina
I think it's totally okay to order from less well known designers as long as you read up on feedback/reviews of them from previous customers.

I've been to Dream Couture and never have I been treated with such disrespect. The proprietor of this business is focused on $$$ and the minute she realizes that you are not about to put thousands in her hands that day, her quality of customer service instantly drops.
Her prices are extravagant as is her attitude.
I would much prefer and have dealt with the ladies at Dhaagay just a few doors over from Dream.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with her. She is hard to reach though unless u go to her with an appointment and that time she gives you her full attention. Her prices are high but they are negotiable. Like for my bridal she started at 5 thousand dollars and we brought it down to 2000 dollars. So the key is really to keep pushing and bargaining with her specially if you keep telling her that your interested in getting that item.

^ Really? who was the bridal designer for your dress? And seriously how long can someone stand at the store and bargain and push for? I find Shabana very tacky and I am never ever returning to her store again even it’s the last one left in Toronto. There is a store right beside her’s called ‘Vanita’s collections’ and she is the most sweetest lady I have ever met, she also carries bridals and some other Pakistani designers joras even though it’s an indian store, and I actually bought from her store because she gave me respect as a customer :k:

I didn't have a problem reaching her. In fact, it might have been better had I NOT reached her.
And the fact that you were able to bring her to a price of less than half of what she was asking is testimony enough that she is way, way, way over-priced.
If someone is going to give me something at more than 50% off the list price then I will surely not trust them for any other thing.

I second Dhaagay. Not only are their formals beautiful but Madiha herself is a total pro. Last time I was there, some Pakistani lady was trying to return an outfit for some useless reason despite there being No Refund signs all over the store. Madiha handled it very professionally and without losing her cool even though the lady was being petulant and unreasonable and descended into name calling.
Oriental Fashions, on the other hand, are awful and overpriced for the stuff they sell- it isn't even finished propery. I will never go back there.

Thank you so much everyone. I am going to visit Dream Couture this weekend :S. May pop in to Dhagay as well. Didn't realize people had bad experiences with her - care to share? You may share via private message as well but it may help more gupshuppers if we discuss here.
The plus side to ordering from Toronto is being able to see the kaam and all that. If I start looking in Pakistan, people aside from Bunto have barely replied, and it honestly feels like endless possibilities (which feels so scary!!!)

Apparently (Pakistani sources tell me) Bunto is top of the line and Umar Saeed etc are second tier. Bunto STARTS at 5k (for a very plain jora unfortunately). I don't think I contacted Umar Saeed yet.
