I don't think being an intolerant person is immoral, but I do believe intolerant acts are. I want Mr. Brownback and General Pace to count the number of Bible verses that call homosexual acts (inside a monogamous relationship) immoral vs. the number of verses that tell us to not judge others.
Hey hey hey... why is it necessary for everyone to think that homosexual acts are moral acts too??? And if you don't think they are moral, then you are intolerant???
No one is stopping homosexual acts. They are expressing their personal opinion that it is immoral. Is the gay lobby now so strong, that people can't even have an opinion on this topic, unless that opinion is that homosexuality is just fantastic... Whatever happened to freedom of speech and freedom of thought and freedom of opinion. Are gays the new sacred cow? Criticize them and you go to rehab
Their opinions are fine. They can be as narrow-minded and self-righteous as they want to be, just don't try to make their interpretation of morality public policy. That's why I say intolerant acts are immoral.
The whole don't-ask, don't-tell is a farce. It's basically saying 'pretend to be someone you're not'. Serve your country with honor, fight for your country, die for your country, just live your whole life being someone else.
Re: TOP US GENERAL RIGHTLY CALLS GAY ACTS IMMORAL.
Those of you that are supporting this general, bare in mind that xenophobic people like him probably hate you Pakis and Muslims and want to bomb you to smithereens far more than they do gays.
And said gays want to join this military complex itself...why? To save us?

Gen Pace expressed his personal opinion in a newspaper interview. He is not making public policy on this issue. I think he said that he supports the current "don't ask don't tell" policy. And you are all over him for expressing his opinion. Now who is intolerant here?

I think the "don't ask don't tell" policy came around during the era of Bill Clinton who is a Board Certified LIBERAL. Whether its working or not is a matter of personal opinions. But to my knowledge no one is asking homosexual soldiers to give up homosexuality, have sex with women, get married to a woman, have children or as you so melodramatically put it "live your whole life being someone else".
Re: TOP US GENERAL RIGHTLY CALLS GAY ACTS IMMORAL.
Even if the general was in a position to make public policy...what of it? There is a large segment of the American population that simply do not recognize homosexuality as the basis for the recognition of a community.

I never said he couldn't or shouldn't express his opinion, just as I am free to define the acts of the US military immoral. Funny how someone leading the most powerful army on earth that kills almost indiscriminately singles out homosexuality as immoral. I'm sure Jesus is so impressed with his moral leadership of the armed forces.

There is more to being homosexual than engaging in public homosexual sex. It involves having a partner and living arrangements, benefits, friends, dating, socializing, expressing yourself, etc, etc. Keeping all those things secret and pretending to be someone your not is being someone else. Unless you can tell me how a homosexual brings his life partner with him to the Officer's Club or to the BX to buy a commitment ring w/o 'telling'.
Re: TOP US GENERAL RIGHTLY CALLS GAY ACTS IMMORAL.
Polygamy is a different issue - there is so much room for abuse there. If you were to allow it, then the US would also have to trouble itself with monitoring it.
Besides, in America, democracy dictates. Unfortunately for you Lajjo, most Americans actually think its enough as it is that you have 1 wife.
Re: TOP US GENERAL RIGHTLY CALLS GAY ACTS IMMORAL.
^ so your saying that if most people think so then homosexuality should be outlawed too?
by your logic anyone with contrarian ideas to the majority view would have to shut up. Werent some of the stuff thats norm right now completely against mainstream views at some point?
