Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

And what if a non-muslim wants to visit KSA? What are the Top attractions for them? They are not allowed to enter Madinah to visit the places mentioned above.

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

Non Muslims can't goto Makkah n medina but can visit other places, there are lot of other places for them to visit:) amusement parks, huge shopping malls, designer brands from clothing, shoes to acessories, hotels n restaurants, foodchains etc etc..

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

I know quite a lot of Non-Muslims who have traveled to Saudi Arabia. But not a single one of them has gone there for touristic purposes but only for business. The reason for that is: You can have the same amusement parks, shopping malls, etc. in a lot of other places too.

The vast majority of places that make Saudi Arabia unique are not accesible for Non-Muslims. Therefore they have no interest in visiting the country as a tourist.

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

. Nowdays Saudi Govt is focusing more on its tourism industry,I admit that there are restrictions for Non Muslims, but the vast number of non Muslims living here for work still enjoy within those rescrtitions, ppl from different nationalities are living here a quality life,As for the tourism side ppl do come here n stay with their relatives(non Muslims)n enjoy their stay here...I think I should hv specified the thread as Tourists Attractions in Saudi Arabia For Muslims:)

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

Why are they not allowed in Makkah and Madina?

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

@ The one:I believe Muslims also don't go there for touristic purposes. Anyhow, that was quite informative. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

I have once attended a Q&A session with Dr. Zakir Naik and one of the Non-Muslims in the audience asked this exact question. And Dr. Naik answered it beautifully:

Dr. Naik: “Let’s suppose I buy an air ticket to Washington DC and then travel to the Pentagon. Would anyone let me in?”
Guy in the audience: “No.”
Dr. Naik: “Why not?”
Guy in the audience: “Because it’s the Defence Ministry of the United States.”
Dr. Naik: “And the Masjid Al-Haram is the Defence Ministry of Islam. And while it is very difficult to get an access pass to the Pentagon, it is very easy to be given access to the Defence Ministry of Islam. All you have to do is say the Shahadah with sincerity and you will be granted access.”

An hour later, after listening to Dr. Naik answering some more questions from other people in the audience, that guy came to the microphone again, said the Shahada and became a Muslim.

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

Ppl who come here for Ummrah visit these sites wich hv religious n historic importance at the same time:)

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

One needs to enroll as a Member and become a Muslim to get an entry to these Sacred Places of Allah Almighty

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

If there’s no Islamic reference for prohibiting non-muslim visiting these places then I don’t buy Zakir Naik’s logic. He’s gets funded by Saudis so obviously his opinion would be in their favour. And we don’t make nukes in there so comparing it to Pentagon is stupid.

@hareem a good read
Why are Non-Muslims not allowed to enter Mecca & Medinah?
January 14, 2009 | Filed under: Common Misconceptions,Q&A Section | Posted by: admin
By Law, Non-Muslims are disallowed in the Holy cities of Madinah and Makkah. There are many people who raise objection to this and hence try to spread misconceptions. The following points will serve to understand the possible reasoning behind such a restriction.

All citizens are not permitted in the cantonment area

I am a citizen of India. Yet, I am not permitted to enter certain restricted areas like the cantonment. In every country there are certain areas where a common citizen of that country cannot enter. Only a citizen who is enrolled in the military or those who are connected with the defense of the country are allowed in the cantonment area. Similarly Islam is a Universal Religion for the entire world and for all human beings. The cantonment areas of Islam are the two holy cites of Makkah and Madinah. Here only those who believe in Islam and are involved in the defense of Islam i.e. the Muslims are allowed.

It would be illogical for a common citizen to object against the restriction on entering a cantonment area. Similarly it is not appropriate for non-Muslims to object against the restriction on non-Muslims against entering Makkah and Madinah.

Visa to enter Makkah and Madinah

Whenever a person travels to a foreign country he has to first apply for a visa i.e. the permission to enter that country. Every country has its own rules, regulations and requirements for issuing a visa. Unless their critera are satisfied they will not issue a visa.

One of the countries which is very strict in issuing a visa is the United States of America, especially when issuing visas to citizens of the third world. They have several conditions and requirements to be fulfilled before they issue a visa.

When I visited Dubai, it was mentioned on their immigration form – death to drug traffickers. If I want to visit Dubai, I have to abide by the rules. I cannot say that death penalty is a barbaric punishment. Only if I agree with their requirements and conditions will I be permitted to enter the country.

The Visa – The primary condition required for any human being to enter Makkah or Madina is to say with his lips, “La ila ha illallah Muhammed ur Rasulullah” meaning that ‘there is no God but Allah and Muhammed (pbuh) is His Messenger.’

Allah knows the best!

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

^I was just looking for an Islamic reference from a hadith etc.

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

All non muslims of makkah and madina were asked to embrace islam or leave harmain sharifain..during time of Mohammad:saw2: right?

I read somewhere that non Muslims were allowed in the two holy cities for stone time.
However a conspiracy to remove the body of the Prophet from nearby houses via a tunnel was discovered and henceforth non Muslims were barred from entering

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

They don't make nukes inside the Pentagon either, but I know where you're coming from.

Regarding the Islamic Reference:

"Oh you who believe! Truly the idolaters are unclean; so let them not, after this year, approach the Sacred Mosque...." (9:28)."

This of course does not apply to Christians and Jews, but it might explain the background of the general restriction. Apart from that: The place is so crowded anyway and managing the masses is a huge challenge. Allowing Non-Muslims to visit would create logistic issues, I believe.

Re: Top Tourist Attraction In SaudiArabia!

Mecca and Madinah are cities of great importance in Islamic tradition centers of pilgrimage and prayer, sacred places where Muslims are free from the distractions of daily life. The ban on non-Muslim visitors is mentioned in the Qur’an as follows: "Oh you who believe! Truly the idolaters are unclean; so let them not, after this year, approach the Sacred Mosque...." (9:28). This verse specifically refers to the Grand Mosque in Mecca; later scholars have included Madinah in this ruling as well. There are some Islamic scholars who would permit exceptions to this general rule, for trade purposes or for people who are under treaty permission. There is also some debate about the exact area and borders of the restricted area(s). The government of Saudi Arabia, which controls access to the holy sites, has decided upon a strict ban on both cities in their entirety.
Restricting access to Mecca and Madinah is intended to provide a place of peace and refuge for Muslim believers and preserve the sanctity of the holy cities. At this time, millions of Muslims visit the cities each year, and additional tourist traffic would simply add to the congestion and detract from the spirituality of the pilgrimage visit.
