Regarding #3 While I have been told numerous times on GS that from Islamic POV it is a myth and I am not disagreeing that it is not, but you all do know that, it is the 72 kitties that are promised to the suicide bombers that makes them go pull the pin and take their own life.
On the same token suicide bombings originate from Sri-Lanka. So I wonder what was being promised to them.

1 US is the richest and most powerful country in the history of the world.
2. Muslims universally believe their system to be God ordained to be the best in the world, yet their power peaked hundreds of years ago.

I could match the other poster and say Musims hatred of US is based on ignorance. But I don't think it is ignorance as much as it is human nature. People tend to resent and be envious of the successful. Throw in a self-righteous belief that God ordained it to be otherwise and what else are you gonna get?

semi, people don’t blow themselves up or fly plain into building because they are just ‘jealous’ of US because of its power and freedom. It takes a whole lot more for someone to commit such acts. There are other valid reasons for someone to hate America and resentment and envy is none of them.

An average Muslim guy living in his country doesn’t give a damn about America’s freedom and its superpowers. But Redneck America is so petrified due to their ignorance and hatred that they believe in such ridiculous rumors about Islam. I thought you were a well-educated liberal open-minded Democrat. point taken. However, theres a flaw in that God did not ordain us to be the most powerful or wealthy. But neither were we God forbid, ordained to screw up others. This isnt about power, but more the misuse of it. How do you explain the nonmuslims in the uk, that are really scathing of American policy (its election time), are their countries not considered wealthy enough?
I think its time y'all looked at the real reasons, an not start creating your own theories. you'll do more harm than good.

Conversely, once can say the average Amercian doesn’t give two hoots about Muslims’ insecurities and inferiority complex. Why, if I am a well-educated liberal open-minded democrat, I am not supposed to believe those rumours, but you are free to generalize about Americans ignorance and hatred? I don’t agree with a whole lot of the current administration’s foreign policy either, there has been a lot of arrogance and misuse of power. And whille I think more even-handed policies would reduce the resentment, it’s not going to get rid of it. But I don’t only include Muslims in resentment of US power

There’s a pretty simple explanation for this really. Non-muslims in Europe and elsewhere clearly don’t like the US is rocking the boat in the middle east. They’re free to consider it a misuse of power if they want, but the fact is that many American’s preferred not to wait and see if the problems in the middle east, which led to the 9-11 attacks, would sort themselves out.
