Top 500 World Universities

The Institute of Higher Education at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University has published an Academic Ranking of World Universities listing the top 500 in the World.

Obviously the Top 10 are occupied by US and UK Universities. And also obviously no Pakistani university made it to the top 500. There are a few Indian unis though.

rankings generally dont mean much, i believe universities should be tiered rather than ranked. these particular rankings dont carry much weight anyways. i mean, you know something is not right when university of minnesota is 33rd in the world let alone the US. and coming from china, i dont think these rankings deserve much attention. just my opinion though.

University of Pittsburgh is rated higher than Carnegie Mellon , USC, Purdue, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, and Rensselaer Polytechnic.

That's enough for me to disregard this ranking system.

Hey, mine's 24th. Some unis in that list shouldn be soo high in the list; uni of michigan, pleaaasee. I don' think it deserves such a high rank. but nonetheless, it's ok.

My Uni is in the Top 3 - but then I knew that anyway without looking at the list.
