yeah but when there is one such major discrepency, wonder how many others would they have.
There are other rankings of world universities, and they dont come from a run of the mill chinese university.
P.S. it does ntomean that harvard is still not all that and a bag of chips, it just means that I am ticked off about how they rank. there are others that should be below NW, I just questioned the most obvious.
Next I know they will say adelphia, pace and hofstra are better, oh, or how about oral roberts ![]()

what do u know about university of minnesotta to make such a claim? do you know any thing about school rankings in USA? well FYI uni of minnesotta is always among top 25 schools in USA.I hate when people open up their mouth with no knowledge…well let me help you..here is the link of top 25 schools by USnews.com for year 2005…Uni of Minnesotta is No 21 in business and No 25 in engineering.

with over 40,000 students, it has many departments in top 5 list. its enginering school is extremely strong with chemical engineering always in top 5 and civil engineering in top 10. its business school is also pretty strong . I have seen some outstanding research papers from the school on regular basis… I am not UNi of Minnesotta alumni but postin this info to keep the record straight…
LINK FIXED - UT
some how the usnews link in the above post is not working...but anyone can simply search for "top 25 schools in USA" on google..this list is for top 25 graduate schools in usa...
i cant believe someones actually trying to justify these nonsensical rankings. what do i know about UMinn? nothing! the school probably didnt do much to gain international reputation ;) lol, point being schools like UMinn (large publics in every state) are dime a dozen in the US. look at the rankings a little closely, you'll see at least 10 schools that are way better and i mean wayyy better than Minny that are ranked lower example: Brown, Rice, USC, McGill, McMaster, Case Western, Vanderbilt, UTAustin, Boston, and going by your standards, Florida is a better school than UMinn too. UMinn top 25? dude, as far as i know, only a handful of public schools make the top 25 in the US, virginia, UMich, Berkeley, UCLA, and may be UIUC. UMinn is a good school, so is UF - gainesville, you know huge endowments, large student body, sports, amazing regional reputation, but among the tops in the world? i dont think so.
undergrad rankings place UMinn at an impressive 66 ;)
thats one school i'm never sending my kids to, why are we wasting our time on it lol
ooh is it? WATEVERRR ![]()

that just about sums up my own response to these rankings as well...
sometime, I'll tell you guys about the academia's proclivity towards different style rankings and the flaws of surveys that are conducted towards that end.
Ciao.
