Top 10 Countries to live in

The top ten countries listed on the index are: Norway, Australia, Iceland, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Switzerland and Japan.

Norway is best place to live, China moves up: UN - Yahoo! News

I was reading the same article today.

Re: Top 10 Countries to live in

Funny that USA rarely ranks well in this study.
What do they compare?

Re: Top 10 Countries to live in

US is getting increasingly difficult to live in and earn an honest income and not get financially torn apart when someone in the family gets sick (ex. cancer, heart disease, diabetes, any surgically managed disease, anything requiring frequent hospitalizations or constant doctor visits).

Seriously. I am not working right now, so I'm on a low-income student geared insurance plan, and its ridiculous. I had 2 blood tests done to evaluate for an endocrine disorder, and I'm having to pay 300 dollars because some genius in the billing dept coded the lab tests wrong. And now all companies are sending me bills. When I try to fix this situation, billing dept is like "yeah...we'll get to fixing it..." I'm pretty sure, somehow I'm going to have to pay. They'll figure out some way to make me pay.

My father has heart disease and diabetes - pretty common - and he pays, despite insurance, like 600 per month on medications. Mom has osteoperosis and is aggravated about spending I forget how much each month for 4 pills.

What's left after they're done paying for meds, and paying for the household needs and children's education needs?

Like almost nothing. They work like dogs, and the whole system is convoluted and difficult - overly beuracratic, and at the end of the day, just inefficient.

And overall, I think Americans are annoyed with how their tax money is being spent these days.

You just have more rights and more ammenities in other european countries. At least you don't have to fight like a bug to get your healthcare.

Re: Top 10 Countries to live in

Switzerland will always be my top country :)

Now now, don't let the conservatives hear about it. The system works fine, insurance companies are all benevolent and the best way to not run into health expenses is to not get sick.

Re: Top 10 Countries to live in

Best to live in your home country… :k:

Re: Top 10 Countries to live in

How is UAE, Qatar or Kuwait not on this list? I am assuming these kind of surveys take into account the citizens of the countries, and not visitors or expatriates. As far as their citizens are concerned, everything is free such as medical and education. On top of that there is a reverse tax system and amenities like free electricity, pressure free jobs and a system which gives their citizens the upper hand in everything. What is there to complain about?

Edit: Ok I see they are in the 30's. Pretty good for countries that came to be just 40-50 years ago and had to work their way up.

Re: Top 10 Countries to live in
