tonsils

who has gotten their tonsils out? and why?

my brother and nephew. my nephew is only 19 months old.
big tonsils leads to sleep Apnea which is difficulty in breathing while sleeping and snoring alot. my nephew could not breath for several minutes at once.
specialists did sleep study and operated on him.

we have family history of tonsils and 5other family member had operations.

Re: tonsils

I've been told by two different doctors now that i need to get mine removed, I get bronchitis every year. I'm too scared to tho, would apperciate stories about the procedure and recovery.

Re: tonsils

I had terrible tonsilitis as a child, but my parents who are both physicians, had me treated by a homeopath and I responded very well to the treatment. As a result, I didn't have to undergo surgery.

Re: tonsils

funeela, doesn't it make ur immune system weaker?? (or so i've heard)

belle, ouch that sucks. i've never been told by my doc but lately i've been getting sick quite alot and it's all to do with my throat or sinuses...so just thought i'd look into this (but not so much now)

Niksik, oh that's good stuff. i guess it depends on every person eh..

it does, thats why doctors operated urgently on my nephew. he used to get sick all the time, especially in winter with viruses and needed to admitted to hospital.

by now he is fine and a week after the operation he is running and jumping.
he took few days to get back on track whereas my brother took only one day and doctors said if he eats ice block, he would get better quickly.
