Re: To those who are ashamed of being Pakistanis or related to Pakistan or Muslims…

ISIS, Boko Haram and the likes are just the tip of the berg. And they are just acting upon the mindset and thought process which already exist in their societies. They don’t appear out of the blue and start committing these atrocities. We need to recognize this, before we can start finding solutions to the problem. Merely saying, this is not us, is not going to cut it.

We share the same type of upbringing, with the same type of moral and “theological” values. What do you think makes these people tick? Why is it so easy to incite mobs in Pakistan to commit atrocities against religious minorities, who have presumably committed blasphemy? Are these actions just the result of “a few minutes madness”, or is the resentment against the “impure” non-muslims already deeply rooted in their mind, beforehand?

Can this resentment, in one form or another, be witnessed in people who are not committing atrocities against religious minorities? Personally, I have witnessed it enough times, to call it OUR problem.
