G.S so far has not had any Hindu member from Pakistan.
I would to ask those living in Sindh province, how your experience has been so far with Hindu community.
I am asking this question to Sindh members, solely for the reason that Pakistan’s other province has a relatively negligible presence of the Hindu community and especially there are members from Punjab and K.P who have not seen Hindus in their life time.
I am Punjab, and have not seen any Punjabi Hindus...how ever I have had a chance to train with them for about six months in my previous company. My experience with them was good, found them to be open and friendly.
The Sindhi Hindu community is educated and I have found them to be sometimes over represented in various organizations. Its them who has really taken benefit of the quote system of rural Sindh.
I think I have nothing new to tell here. But let me summarise, what I have already shared from time to time.
We still share common wall with a Hindu family in hometown. Exchange sweets on Eid and Holi. Do visit each other on wedding and funerals.
Even we shared a well (water source) with this family for decades. No Hindu Pani, Muslim Pani issue.
Lots of funny questions I asked (Yes this is old habit of mine) about differences between Hindus and Muslims.
First time it was when I was five-six years old and used to go to Jiji Mullani for learning Quran (BTW, me and my sister made a parody of her style, as she made us go to people’s home for getting khairat ki roti). Once she sent us for getting roti and also asked that go to Hajira’s mom and ask her to send Hajira for Quran learning. So, I went and incidentally I knocked at wrong number (PK style) and asked the lady ‘Jiji keh rahi hain aap apni beti ko Quran paRhne ke liye bheje. kafi dinon se nahin aa rahi’. She looked surprised (I would say shocked) and replied ‘Hum Quran nahin paRthe’ I asked my sister who was getting roti from other house (ye log Quran kiyun nahin paRhte) and she told that they are Waniya (Hindus). I said ‘phir kiya huwa. kiyun nahin paRhte’. She knew a little more than me and told ‘wo Allah ko nahin maante’.
When we returned home I asked amma ‘Waniya Allah ko kiyun nahin mante?’. I think that she was not expecting this question, but she managed to get rid of me by saying ‘Hum logon ne Iman aur Quran ko chuna aur unn logon ne daulat ko’. But while writing these lines today, I’m thinking that I should go back to that time and ask amma ‘but all waniyas around us are not wealthy. some of them are poorer than us. Teerath Das is employed at Dada’s shop. Masi Teerath Maa (mother of same Teerath) sell achar (Pickle) and Maasi Manghan Maa sells paapaR. How come waniyas chose daulat over Iman’?

That's interesting. Are you talking about Pakistan ?
In the West there are Christian professors and scholars who 'teach about Islam' but don't 'teach Islam/Islamiyaat'.

Yes Karachi, sindh, i dont remember now from where she did her masters, mgr itna yad hy kyun k meri dost friend was asking her to accept islam after she told us that she teaches islamiat in school
yes, my ammi always intelligently held such questions. Even my first question regarding death was quite complex and she managed to handle that. But now its been long that I asked her such questions. Normally she avoids by saying ‘ab to tum mujhse ziada jante ho’, which is not true.
coming to the topic, Hindus of Sindh are well educated. Their used to be this shop in our hometown of Sain Suraj Mal who used to sell stationery and syllabus books. My early school days memories are connected with that shop. There were many Hindu teachers and normally they taught Maths and Science subjects. Sir Sri Chand was quite popular among the generation before us (our elder cousins were his students. he later migrated to India probably after Babri Masjid incident, as we could not get chance to learn from him).
Miss Tulsi was quite popular among girls of our hometown. She used to teach them Maths and was quite strict. In a town, where purdah (balck burqa :
is strictly followed, I as a child, saw her in simple dress and Sadaf’s chappal. I did asked my sister later that she might be earning a lot, then why didn’t she get stylish suitsa and chappals. She told that that she never married and take care of her brother’s children. There was this famous incident when she pulled the naqab of a chor in her home and reported that it was well known signer of Sindh
From the personality of Miss tulsi and other Hindus I know, I think they don’t show off. My sister might have a different idea as ladies assess lifestyles better than males, where puradah is followed. The reason behind not showing off might be they don’t want to be in eyes of criminals, as Sindhi media is filled with the news of kidnapping of traders for ransom (including Hindu traders). Being a minority, limits your actions and one need to be very much careful in all aspects of life.

That is true in other parts of the world, including the West, even where countries have laws protecting minorities and all citizens are considered equal in the eye of the law.

There are horrible incidents mentioned in Sindhi literature, where Hindus who opt to stay in Pakistan, had to learn kalmas. Hindu people can't pronounce some letters like Sheen, Qaaf (not all Hindus, but majority of them) and as we all know there is good usage of these letters in kalma, but they somehow managed to do that. Even The famous daa ji (who taught the boy Arabic and Persian)character of Ashfaq Ahmed's 'Gadariya' was probably a Hindu (If I remember correctly).
making people accept Islam , which is now taking shape of forced conversion cases in Sindh, was always there. I observed various incidents , which were portrayed as light hearted jokes (and at that time it might be just a joke). Like bullying of Hindu students and asking them to read kalima. The famous case of Nao Mal, who helped British to conquer Sindh, also have links with forced conversion. His father was reportedly circumcised forcibly by Muslims few years before British conquered Sindh in 1843.
Ji unhy subject acha lga hoga ya pata nhi itni maloomat nhi li but she answered nicely ham idher se udher nhi hosakty means she has strong faith on her religion, shayd we got surprised knowing that she is mashaAllah masters in islamiat, waesy islamiat mein masters karny k liye karachi university ka merit bhut low hy @muqawwee123 she knew kalma ab parh k yad nhi, meri frind ny ghaliban muhabbat mein kha tha, but forcefully tu la ikraha fid deen-al quran
ye behas kahin aur chali jae gi. aaj ka Muslama ‘La ikraha fi din’ aur ‘Lakam deenkum’ ko redundant samajhta hai. Jab Fateh Makkah ho gai to Makki Quran ne boht so ke liye maani kho diye

Does that mean 'there is no compulsion in religion/deen' ?
waise @Arleitter sach sach batana iss thread ka idea tumhara apna nahin tha na? I have a feeling that someone from your in-laws made you start this discussion.
