I recently heard of some guys talking about how they would leave their girlfriends/fiances if they ever got raped. I was SHOCKED. How could you leave someone u LOVE for something like that?

obviously you dont have to buy their words because the statement itself sounds so contradictory. How can in one breath someone claim loving someone and saying they will/ can dump them if such or such happens. Love is beyond reason, false claims and bad jokes.

yeah thats what i dont understand...they say it will take a while for them to fall out of love but they will definitely leave the girl...i really dont get it

I wonder love is so powerful these days that guys don't leave a girl they 'love' if raped. We don't see heer ranjha, laila majno type love stories these days. Both girls and guys are practical these days and we have all seen guys to leave their choice of girls for various reasons (most commonly lack of agreement of their families). I think a desi guy might not apparently leave the girl but the family most probably would ask him to leave the girl and there are 99% chances that he will listen to the family. He will be behaving as if he doesn't want to leave the girl but I really doubt any desi guy will be able to marry such girl if he knew about this. Saying and doing are two different things. If a girl is raped, most probably she will distance herself from the guy herself and/ or the guy's family will pressurise the guy NOT to proceed with the girl. So the chances are that guy will most probably give in. He might have feelings of sympathy for the girl but I don't think powerful and strong love or call it ISHQ exists in this age that he will go ahead with marrying the girl.
If such a guy exists in our desi society, he will definitely be one in a million.

I know of a guy in Canada who married a girl who was raped by her own father. She told him when he first told her he loved her, ad she told him to stay away. But he said this would make no difference and that it wasnt her fault. He was a young guy, had just become a doctor. The girl had been married before and divorced very quickly when the guy found out. Beautiful girl....My mother still tells me the story all the time, she says people would never believe it but we have seen this miracle happen in front of our very eyes. Love does exist! Truly lucky are those who find it.

So I just wonder...and feel free to counterpoint, but it seems as if the guy who sticks by a woman whose raped/molested is a hero.....

Yes but still we should think positively. Majority or minority.. i don't know. In million of population, how many men we know? just hardly hundred men... then how can you generalize that they won't accept raped girls. If you know half of the population and then you said that they won't accept such girls then i would accept your generalization.
