I'm proud of who I am. That is what God had in store for me. Yes, there are lots of things our countrymen might do to bring shame to the country's name but we can undo some of that and repair the tarnished image. Remember, being patriotic is a good thing, but adapting and respecting other countries and cultures is an added plus too.
Heck no, never. I've never been ashamed of my nationality - but I do loathe and despise some of its self-appointed representatives, because they portray a false portrait of Pakistan. Thats why I feel all the more responsible and determined to show ppl here the face of the real Pakistan, not hiding behind a false identity.
I know many Americans who despise Bush and his policies openly, but I have NEVER heard any of them say anything anti-american on that basis, never have they denounced amercia as a whole for electing an idiot like him - twice. now thats pride and conviction, lets learn from that, shall we.
In addition to this ^ I think people from every country have been through times when they feel ashamed because of the bad (sometimes really horrific) behavior of fellow countrymen, who, of course, don't have the wits or grace to be ashamed of themselves. We all feel frustration and shame when it is the lunatics who make the news and therefore seem to represent the rest of us. But your country and your identity is more than its government or the small % of fringe lunatics and I feel sad for people who don't know the difference and go through life with blinders on.
You should all be proud of your country. But proudness should not come by putting down your neighbouring country.
Thats impossible. Isnt it funny how a thread about Pakistanis being proud of Pakistan degenerated into India bashing ? Its pretty obvious that the ONLY way they can feel proud about their country is by putting down India. Probably there isn't much else for them to feel proud about. I say lets just accept it and move on.

^^ I can feel proud of my country without bad mouthing others - obviously you and some other posters cannot do that which leads to the logical conclusion that the only way you can feel proud about your country is by putting down India.
And instead of telling me what to do, why don't you do some introspection and you will see the truth ?
They dont come to Pakistan and attack your citizens. Do they? Icon and Let uz Chat, These are internal matters of India which we can deal with it. They kill our brothers and we know how to deal with them. You guys lost the chance when you decided to move out of the country long time ago. Still harping on issues internal to India is what I say excuses for the justification of existance of Pakistan. Whatever the state of Pakistan is we are all fine because we got rid of the cunning Hindus. With this attitude how are u so different from Modi and company.

Okay, we Pakistanies separated from you, bcoz you keep killing innocents muslims without provocation, just like Modi is doing now, it used to happen in past. Many of people alive from pre-partition India tell us how they were treated by hindus.
And don;t act like India is a holy cow. India has long history of aggression against Pakistan and it has sponsored terrorist activities in Pakistan.

Mindset is the same. You wanted a separate country for Muslims and Modi wants India to be Hindu only. Where is the difference. Communal violence and hate crimes happen all over the world including your most purified land called Pakistan. But I havent seen Muslims in India complaining that they will be denied rights and no mass exodus.

That is what I said in the previous post. After > 60 years you need to bring this up to justify the existence of Pakistan. Thats pathetic really. Be proud of your country for what you achieved in this 60 years and dont base your proudness of getting rid of Hindus from your land of pure.

I used to think that it would be embarrassing just to tell anyone that i am from Pakistan before i actually lived in London and Canada..whenever i went for holidays before that i would wish no one would come up to me and ask me if i am a Pakistani or not..but after living in these countries i knew that anything done by any Pakistani is embarrassing since people in these countries the gora which most people here want to impress and want to prove things to are just as bad as those we think embarras us in front of anyone or anywhere. Now i am actually way to proud to be a Pakistani because i have got the best of both the worlds Mashallah. :)

Major difference in us and Modi is that we made Pakistan through method which was acceptable through election and peaceful from our end.
And we all know what Modi and like minded have done and are still doing to make India a pure Hindu state.

Having a neighbor called Pakistan - The World Headquaters of Terrorism - is the biggest bottleneck to India's development. Pakistan is a nuclear basketcase country that has nothing to lose....like a nangaa aadmi with a gun... Scary !
If I was a Pakistani, I would be more than ashamed esp after the Mumbai attacks.
