Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

It is a positive development. I hope more Indian intellectuals think the same way. I am sure they do.

Instead of paying lip service to the bravery of our soldiers, or using refugees to score political points, **would it not be better to try to end the conflict, so troops can be drawn down and the displaced allowed to return?
**

Pakistan, which in the past has played a largely negative role, favouring insurrection over negotiation, **has altered its stance, and offered a number of creative options for the state’s future. **

Our neighbour is looking beyond the binary of victory and defeat, and so should we. It isn’t within the scope of this article to outline the history of J&K and debate who has better claim to it.

What matters is that there’s a possibility of crafting a solution satisfying all sides. A window of opportunity has opened, but won’t stay open forever.

Free Tibet. And what about Kashmir?

I think withdrawal of troops is a good idea too, but to a limited extent. We still need much better security measures to protect the border with Pakistan since they have the tendency to try and push in all the time, not to mention the jihadi threat as well as the so called 'mujahideen' they used to train and send cross-border.

Rest of the article is garbage

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

times of india is a poor source. It is a tabloid and no one respects it.

That being said, India should never have been in that region to begin with, Kashmir is an integral part of Pakistan. Azad kashmir, avay hi avay

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

incorrect. not even your leaders and mullahs believe that.

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

^ not even in your dreams

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

^^

Let us not have a slanging match here. Let us try and be realistic about the various options that are available. India withdrawing from the areas it has under its controls is not going to happen in the near future. Similarly for Pakistan.

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

pakistan zindabad. :)

kashmir = pakistan. anyone knows that

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

Kashmir+Pakistan = India

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

"We need to protect our border"...........As if Pakistan is going to steal your border.

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

While I don't condone the Indian occupation of Kashmir I can't blame them for being there.

The reason is once they pull out, other ethnic groups all over the country will demand independence.

You see before 1947 there was no "india" or Pakistan. The region was dozens of indepdent countries before the British arrived. While Pakistan might have existed as a nation from the times of the Indus Civlization, it was never a state known by it's current name and borders.
When the Brits left they merged all these countries into larger countries of "india" and Pakistan.

Alot of these states were merged into "india" against their will. In Pakistan's case only Balochistan was taken by force. In India's case most states were given by the British the remaining were gained through military force.

Goa for example after being free of Portugese occupation was observed into the newly formed India by military force.

Even take Canada and USA. Before their appearance on the map they both were a bunch of independant countries till they merged together as larger countries.

Coming back to Kashmir the reason if India let's go of Kasmir, alot of states that are already demanding indepdendece that they lost in 1947 will double their efforts and India will face the same fate as the Soviet Union did.

Like I do not condone what the Russians are doing in Chechnya but can you blame them? Chechnya contains alot of energy supplies that Russians are so dependent upon for winter heating, transportation and alot others.

Letting Chechnya go means saying good-bye to their survival.

Pakistan's actions in Balochistan are bad but giving up Balochistan means giving up it's main gas supply and leaving alot of people including the poor withut basic needs such as gas for cooking etc.

This is now the way of the world. Survival comes over morality unfortunately.

So rounding up my points, again I think Pakistan has a duty to protect Kashmir as much as it does to protect Punjab Sindh or Balochistan because like these provinces Kashmir is also a province, but I do not blame the Indians for staying there either.

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

But do you blame the Indians for staying there and raping innocent kashmiris andha dunn?

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

How does pulling out troops equate “independence”? :konfused:

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

^ it is. trust me.

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

it is really funny to watch a bunch of Pakistanis discuss Kashmir as if they have anything to do with it. Wonder how much longer before the 'oh my muslim brothers' card will be used

Re: Times of India sez: India should end the Kashmir conflict: Withdraw Indian Army

No, it doesn't.

Kashmir = Kashmir.

You're right. It's just as ridiculous as when Indians sit around and discuss their God-given, proprietary rights over Kashmir.
