You almost make the “brand new out of the wrapper kind of girl” sound like it’s something bad. Manning up does not mean whom you marry, but what security you provide to your spouse and how you handle the ups and downs of the relationship, none of which is specific to whether you marry an abused girl or an untouched virgin.

If most of us would be manning up to be gentlemanly towards our spouses, there wouldn’t be as many abused women to begin with requiring us to man up to support the ones that need it. Yes the obsession amongst many with virginity is not very healthy. We are probably the only society that puts so much emphasis on it. The Prophet(SAW) by example showed us that it is very acceptable to marry divorced women, I never saw the instruction that prefers a virgin over a divorcee or widow.
