Time to heal and move on

We as a nation have, in the recent past, gone and are still going through some very turbulent times. Both the CJ and the Lal Masjid issue was very tense and stressful time for us and the posts in this forum reflected that. However, the posts degenerated into personal attacks and name calling of the worst kind. It was an emotional time and we let people blow off the steam here to an extent. The mod team was overwhelmed by the amount of posts and could not monitor all of them.

The time has now come to take a step back and look at things more objectively. While we recognise that diversity of opinion keeps this place vibrant lets not continue with name calling and scoring points by degrading the other side. The GS administration requests we get back to having comprehensive, meaningful and lively discussions in a more mutually respectful manner, without resorting to name calling. At the end of the day we all want a strong and prosper Pakistan.

Please take a minute to refamiliarize yourself with the forum rules and contact the mods for any questions:

The mods are:

Haris Zuberi
Mad_Scientist
Flame of Life.

Of course you are at liberty to contact either myself or any other member of the admin team at any time to discuss any issues.

Time to start the healing process and move on.

Re: Time to heal and move on

I second that.

We can still have differing views and have extensive debate and critique etc but it has to be done in a mature, civilized manner. Does not mean we cant have fun, but lets not be rude, crude and socially screwed.

Re: Time to heal and move on

I support this as well.

Re: Time to heal and move on

I agree as well; however, some times, sensitive issues need to be dealt with rather more authorotatively than passing a request. Name calling and degrading the opponent should have a zero tolerance policy.

PS: of course, IMHO :)

Re: Time to heal and move on

Thanks for your support and feedback

PS: ehsan bhai never makes...requests :)

Re: Time to heal and move on

Flame of Life and Ehsan,
Its great that you are saying all of this now! but how about going a bit further and deleting those hate threads or atleast locking them.
I guess my understanding would be that you are fine with ppl yelling anti molvi sentiments and name calling during the "heat" of the moment, and then those great threads will hang as memorials even after the moment has passed.

Yes go ahead and delete this post. MashaAllah.
And no I will not come and post in the feedback section. I said what I needed to state.
Rest is upto you.
Show that you are infact unbiased through actions please and not words.

Thank you!!

Re: Time to heal and move on

The opinion on this board is skewed and extreme in both directions. Both the religiously inclined and liberal members are using adjectives which are offensive. In my opinion, in fact, the liberal members are guilty of breaking forum rules more than members on the right.

Re: Time to heal and move on

U have a point. I will be reviewing the threads on first page of PA and close those that contain mainyl hate material.

Re: Time to heal and move on

^ Yes. And What about those who are trying to capitalize on the situation and creating new slurs such as calling a niqabi a "psychotic fanatic Ninja"
They want to set a precedence or what? If atleast their thread title should be modified to "fanatic madressah student".
They are blanketly calling every niqabi a "ninja".

If I start posting threads about secular apostates from now who have carried out some drama recently. How will the mods like that? Probably not.

Re: Time to heal and move on

Thanks and I will wait for you to see this action.

Re: Time to heal and move on

That's because their views are contrary to yours and you take it personally. Your views are no less extreme than people you blame. So, get over it.

Re: Time to heal and move on

That is simply ridiculous. You are showing your own bias by making that kind of blanket statement against one side. This thread is about the "Time to heal and move on" and here we have you as a moderator making such an immature and irresponsible statement.

Re: Time to heal and move on

Thanks for your points. The fact is that both sides crossed the limits during the recent events. I do not propose to go through hundreds of posts to see which one to edit. The point of this thread was to ask people to move on and stop the personal attacks. I am sure the mods will be much more vigilant in future as normality returns to the forum.

Re: Time to heal and move on

He is unfit to be a moderator. He is neither emotionally nor intellectually capable of distancing himself from the discussions.

He issued me a warning for calling 'CJ a peon' and here he is making blanket statemetn, willy nilly, about guppies and calling them "liberals". If CJ is too big to be called a 'peon', then guppies have enough self-respect to be not called "liberals".

This is hypocrisy at its worst and this moderator Flame Of Life should be fired.

Re: Time to heal and move on

I think you are missing the point. What we are saying is that we will not tolerate any more mud slinging or personal attacks whether people calling niqabis ninja or the army personnel as murderers. I am sure you meant us to take note of extreme language on both sides not just one.

Re: Time to heal and move on

No use getting into petty debate and getting personal. Suffice it to say that I have to deal with enough niceties on this board every day to form an opinion about which side is breaking the rules more often. 'nuf said.
