** Point is not whether Musharraf will be ousted or not**, but the anti-Musharraf emotions of the public. /quote]
Alhamdulilallah. Looks like the reality is dawning that great President Musharaf is not going anywhere, and the one point agenda of PML (N) and PPP of 'Musharaf Out' is not a sure thing after all.
The electorate will sorely be disappointed if PML (N) and PPP don't oust President Musharaf. :D
The same was being said about the opposition parties before the elections. Predictions of majority for PML(Q) and how the silent majority loved Mush. The chappair was quite a shock for him and his followers.
Well, its pretty obvious that Musharraf does not believe he should willingly and voluntarily leave the office. I think he is completely convinced that notwithstanding his firing the judiciary, proclamating emergency and putting a lot of people in prison, his election as President for another 5 year term is legitimate and "dunno what the fuss is about".
Military dictators (despte shedding his uniform, Mushy will continue to be remembered as a military dictator), generally go away by two ususal methods: either by the bullet of an assassin (a.k.a. death), or by massive street protests by the people. The peculiar thing here is that these elections were supervised by Musharaf's own administration, and if as a result of these elections, he is forced out of power, that will be a very interesting conclusion to this chapter in our country;s history. I think the parallals will be to Yahya Khan, though I don't recall Yahya expressing such a huge desire to stick it out by hook or by crook after the elections were complete.
Daleel bhai. What happened to the massive rigging that was being said would occur. It won’t be long before the great President Musharaf swears in the new PM and the Cabinet members. Would these people refuse to take the oath under the illegal President.

Watch the show and enjoy the upcoming humiliation of the illegal president.
I don't think Zardari/PPP has much problem taking oath from Mushy. PML-N who have the biggest problem with Mushy, won't be accepting ministries anyway (they will lend their support to PPP to prove majority). So oath taking isn't likely to be a problem, however 58-2-b and the unpopularity of Mushy in Pakistan will likely be a bigger problem going forward. It seems that PPP will deem him more as a liability than anything else, so will want to get rid of him, to be replaced by Chairman Senate for the time being, and then a fresh election for President from the current assemblies.
^Dont make everything look so easy. We all know under which cirrcumstances Mushy is still sitting on his throne. Once Bush gone and Obama there we will see the same Mushy vanish forever.
Not only taking the Oath from great President Musharaf, but also under the amended constitution.
The good (or bad) thing about Pakistan's constitution is that it has an amazing amendment rate. :) 20+ amendments in 35 years. Thats more than an amendment every two years. So seems to me that no matter what they do, the next parliament and the next government will take an oath under the amended constitution of Pakistan. And it is always in the cards to amend the contitution further to un-amend some of the amendments force-fed by the Musharraf government. Its not a big deal, actually, once the situation in Senate becomes clear. Right now people are going all over the board in terms of who will jump ship and join some other party.
