People have spoken. The elections have brought forward new political parties that will form the next govt.
From what I have seen so far (apart from PML (N)) all the other parties want to move on from the pre-election rhetoric and get on with the job of governing, and let Parliament make any decisions on controversial issues such as the Judiciary or the Presidency.
With the statement made by ANP that they will not press for the restoration of judges, and if PML (N) wants to continue on this path over the next 12 months rather than govern with PPP and ANP, then we will not see any positive changes for the further betterment of the people.
I believe the Presidency is a non-issue, as getting 2/3rd majority in both houses for impeachment will not happen.
The restoration of the judiciary through an ‘executive order’ that people believe is all that is required will not happen easily, as different people have different understanding and position on this, which will see great and damaging arguments and counter arguments that will tie up parliament for many months.
I believe it is time to move on, and the political parties that have been given a mandate to govern do so for the next five years, rather than getting involved in personal feuds.
Pakistan has achieved a great deal in the past eight years. We should build on this.

While you have tried to frame this as a optimistic patriot, it is more a 'wish-list' for your Mush

TheRealDeal bhaijan. Please read the whole post. There is nothing about a wish list. It will be President Musharaf that will be administrating oath to the nominated PM and the cabinet ministers.
Time to move on, and let the govt govern, rather than getting into nonsensical arguments in Parliament for the next 12 months. PPP and ANP seem to be taking a pragmatic view.
I have read it, shall we agree to disagree? We can do that in a democracy :).
TheRealDeal bhaijan. You have indeed missed the point. You are right about democracy though, in which President Musharaf will be administrating the oath to the PM and the Cabinet Ministers chosen by PPP, PML (N), and other coaltion partners. :)
Aalsi very well expressed view.
The moment the results became apparent Mian saab began oozing the personal venom against Gen Musharraf and soiled the air and environ with perpetuating confrontational politics of agenda.
It shall be a delight if what best we hope for becomes apparent as reality in the months and years to come, but knowing the truths, facts, figures and the characters at hand, no wonder they all lack the maturity and selfless patriotism of good national leaders. As long as personal agendas are primary for them, we'll see the same cycle of misfortune repeat forever.

True....as long as we have USA blessings over Musharraf there can nothing be done. But Inshallah the democratic leaders of this country will fight for the change!
Personally I don't want to see a friction (tug-of-war) between President and Prime Minister. Though Mushy had indicated/promised that he will step down if govt/party of his "liking" does not win the elections and he has regarded Zardari/Benazir, Nawaz Sharif as 'most corrupt' then this election should've been an indication that things are not the way he is told/believes, hence is unaware of ground realities/disconnected from public.
If he wants to stay in govt then let him, the government should modify the laws he manipulated then challenge him in court of law.
Other than that I think everybody should move on, free judiciary does not mean Ch Ifti and company, free judiciary to me is judiciary pre-first-PCO.

The pre-election rhetoric will fade, as soon as great President Musharaf swears in the PM and Cabinet members chosen by PPP, PML (N), and ANP.
If great President Musharaf was illegal, then PPP, PML (N) and ANP would refuse to take oath from the alleged illegal President. Won't they?
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Q, the King's party, lost the elections even in the Presidency.
The result of the polling station, which was set-up in the Presidential Colony for NA-49, showed that the PML-N emerged as the winner followed by the PPP while the PML-Q bagged the third position at the polling station.
PML-N’s Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, who got elected as MNA from NA-49, got 172 votes in the Polling Station No 6 of the Presidential Colony, Islamabad. He was followed by Nayyar Bukhari of the PPP, who got 160 votes while Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar of the PML-Q was third with only 65 votes.
The officers and staff serving in the Presidency reside in the Presidential Colony. An official source provided the election result of the polling station while these facts were also ascertained from the results available with the PML-N candidate.
The people of Pakistan have spoken and they have asked the greatest illegal president to go. He should take heed and leave Pakistan alone. He has done enough damage as is. We need leaders who care for Pakistan not Kursi.
It is really interesting to see how both sides of this argument are framing their arguments.
Musharraf supporters saw the dramatic election defeat (of PML-Q a.k.a. Mushy's King Party) and are suddenly the biggest proponent of reconciliation, lets move forward together, betterment for Pakistan, lets not fight blah blah. Most of these same people were very combative before the election that people will reject corrupt leaders of PPP and PML-N, and PML-Q will win majority of seats because they are so popular and Mushy will be President for ever, etc.
Musharraf haters on the other hand, point out that the whole election was pretty much won on a single point LKMO - "Lets Kick Musharraf Out". That is the sole reason why sworn opponents (PPP and PML) are getting together to form the government. To expect the victors of the election to suddenly forgo their main election promise and get into nuts and bolts of governing is naive. According to them, first things first. LKMO (or make his life absolutely miserable so he quits himself), and then we'll get into the business of running Pakistan (or looting Pakistan, depending upon which way you look at it :)).
What is most amusing is that suddenly Mushy lovers list down a bunch of very important problems facing Pakistan right now that need to be tackled on PRIORITY BASIS (including terrorism, struggles of common man etc), and it begs the natural question that Mushy is in power for the last 8 years, what has he done to solve these vexing problems. And if it is that after his 8 years (which are same as two full terms of US President) he's been unable to solve these huge problems, and in some ways, made them worse, then what is the rationale for keeping him at the helm for 5 more years. Since he is the incumbant, so seems he is clearly incompetent, in addition to be allegedly illegitimate.
This time around he is facing wrath of not just ordinary people but also the elected members of parliament and provincial legislatures. The opinion of ANP and MQM is miniscule correspondent to the number of seats they have won. Even if they decide not to support or participate, at the end of the day it might not matter a whole lot really. The most popular sentiment is restoration of judiciary. I think media is also playing a pivotal part by giving headline coverages to each and every single activity of Aitizaz Ahsan and the CJ..Musharraf has been cornered :p
