I have noticed over time the aggressiveness of female warriors to the point it has become a too serious and even a joke where silly women ranting has become popular.
No wonder some men like Icono and others had to come and intelligently make fun of women ranting.
Why only women run this forum? No offense but that’s just too girly.
Niksik and to some extent CDG are two level headed mods there. And then our friend Reha. Too much out there.
Time for a change.
Bring a man in to forum. I nominate Exodus, Icono, Nomica, STA or kakaballi.
why does change need to come in the form of mods?
why can't men contributing to the forum change the atmosphere?
^ Agreed!
A mod will not change the tone of a conversation, only the contributors can do that. If a contributor is consistently self-righteous and morally superior, he or she will receive feedback in that vein - if he/she can dish it, then better be prepared to receive it in kind.
I think what Diwana is suggesting that having a male mod encourages male members to come and post. For isntance, wedding is a very female dominated forum, so is Parenting. I know today if we put a male mod there, it will send out a strong signal to male members that GS treats these forums as all gender forums.

I don't know about that. We have male members posting in Life1 just fine.
In fact I find that its those members that make a mockery of the place more often than not.
Serious threads authored by men in Life1 are a rare treat......
While I have no issues with appointing male moderators there, I don't see any reason why the male membership does not feel welcome to participate without them.

I know you are a senior person on the BB. You may know that a forum does carry general perception regardless what goes on inside a forum.
And that perception does change periodically based on predominant mood of posts by members.
But moderators do have important role to play in directing the thread in proper direction. Members look up to moderators as well. When one see encouraging remarks by a moderator or "Like" at the bottom of a post by a moderator, other members feel a bit intimidated and worry about saying something strong.
Now that may or may not be fine to this level.
Now hear this: When members who's posts are encouraged by Mods get a little too sure of themselves and end up crossing the line of decency or niceness and start misbehaving/name calling. And Mod (s) look the other way since for them that member is right and other member is wrong.
That is why having a second opinion or at least two strong Mods of two different opinions or even balanced opinion is important.

Here I see a bit of contradiction in both of your posts (bold). Maybe you meant in first post that men should be more proactive in bringing serious issues.
Agreed.
Perhaps a good male member as a mod will do that job.
Off topic but along the same line in some ways:
I started liking Poetry forum after muqawwee123 became a mod believe it or not. And that is because he has developed a connection to readers and brings good ideas unlike other respectable Mods who seemed either too secluded or self loving kind. One poster posted, either no response by Mods or poets keep patting their shoulders even on silly poetry. :) No one from Mods team really brought some good critic to poetry.
Hence Mods CAN change the mood of a forum. I am not criticizing at all. Just a humble suggestion. :)
I would also like to mention that too much feministic/irreligious ideas attract 'nauthy' :) male members or tough cookie type male members to Life1 forum and hence we see other good or humble male members posting less.
As it is we do see religious minded male members blasted by some female members sometime to personal level. And they discourage good religious minded females also. For example FairyTale is a great member with good thoughts but she gets no welcoming remarks. (One Mod just argued with her for no reason recently)
On a serious note, Diwana does bring up an excellent point about Mods liking certain posts and thus tilting the scales a bit. But I would like to think when mods are liking a post, they do it as a member and not as a mod. Mods have a Life too (no pun intended), and they may as individuals Like posts from persons the like. Just as we all do.
Group behavior is common here, just as anywhere else. People form their cliques and cheer-lead each other. No biggie I think.
I would say Diwana is a good sport - so if there is a male mod, he gets my support.
I totally agree. We do have some very aggressive female posters. Bringing a male mod will not change the flavor of the forum. We've had Shak, and those who had to be aggressive continued to be aggressive and dominating. A mod can't do much in terms of subduing a particular type of membership.
My suggestion: men, take charge. Start some sensible/serious/awesome/discussion worthy threads. Oh we have enough of you there. And you yourself have mentioned that the mods there are pretty level headed. We will help you out. It's quite elementary. :)

Let's get rolling.
Bringing a male mod CAN change the flavor of the forum. Sorry, but you did not bring any reason why not.
The level headed Mods do not admonish skewed Mods or counter one sided views and even personal attacks by other Mods.
**
A strong male moderator is needed for Life1.**
And about Shak. He is and was too nice to handle the strong negativity hoovering this forum.
**I hear Xtron has been hitting the weights in the Health and Fitness Program. And Midnight Express is also doing some fancy Karate thingy, and burning up the track in training. Let them duke it out and to the victor shall go the spoils.

Southie dude. Lay off this thread. Will ya?
I already stated stay on topic. Did you not get it my dear?
Don't come back with 'nice' apology or gesture. Thank you very much.
