desicooldude: Aamir Sohail might have done a great service to Pakistan, but I don't see how you can bring Wasim Akram into a discussion on Aamir Sohail's motives. I happened to see the interview you are referring to, and if you re member, he hinted at 'holding people accountable who brought Bob Woolmer' as a coach. If you didn't realize it earlier, this should have given you a hint. He was not engaging in constructive criticism, he was not even asking for sacking Bob Woolmer, rather, he was asking to 'bring those to justice who appointed Bob Woolmer," as if appointing a coach against Aamir Sohai's wishes was a crime.
Do you know who that person was? Ramiz Raja. Do you know that there was a power struggle between the two? You might have heard Inzimam referring to 'some ex players criticizing me....etc," he's talking about Aamir Sohail.
Now under this pretext, you can see why I get angry when I see people getting fooled by Aamir Sohail. He's a spiteful man who's following his personal agenda, and wants to embarrass Inzi and Ramiz Raja. It's a shame he's the sole expert on that Geo program. Don't pay attention to what he says, as he is not offering his honest opinion, rather playing a game here.
This doesn't necessarily mean that I disagree with Aamir Sohail on everything, or that I agree with Inzi/Woolmer on everything. It's just that I don't want to listen to his hypocritical opinions knowing what his motives are.
Good post. Inzi and Woolmer should stop hiding behind the injury excuses take responsibility of the fact that this has been one of the most dismal tours since the tour of Australia. Well, then we had the excuse of losing to a superior side, this England team is hardly as good.
Yes it’s only one series loss in a long time so no need to hit the panic button. But still it doesn’t take away from the fact that our selection policies during this series has been atrocious. We need to develop our bench strength, and that doesn’t mean recalling tried and tested failures. Inzi, Bob and the national selectors need to start doing their bit to find talent, instead of taking the easy route of sticking to old pal and buddy selection system.
I wonder if Javed Miandad should be hired again as a coach. I mean, we all know that last time, there were problems due to the stupid politics in our team. Its a fact that some players didn't get along with him etc etc. But now the situation is changed. Most of the guys are new and weren't involved in that politics.
I guess, for future, Inzi & Javed and then Younis & Javed can show some results.
I'm not saying this becasue of loosing this match. Javed was a talented batsman and a very good captain (keep in mind that there was stupid politics involved during his captaincy too). I think he was a good coach too.
I have stated before that Bob Woolmer may not stay beyond the 2007 World cup. He has plenty of other lucrative opportunities which he may take up.
The dopey Inzi I think will retire after the world cup and if he doesn't and team doesn't do well - then he will be booted out.
Pakistan possibly will be in need of a new coach after the World cup. Given the nature of Pakistan cricket - you never know that Javed Miandad may be brought back again. I personally hope not as we will be going backwards rather then forward.
Yes - he was tried before on several occasions and its a time a fresh face is given the job.
Also - he is not a qualified coach and don't think he has the skills or expertise which other modern day coaches posses. He may be ok giving advice on batting techniques but overall head coach - don't think he is not good enough and neither qualified.
**Younis should replace Inzamam as captain’

LAHORE, Aug 15: Former Pakistan captain Intikhab Alam has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to appoint Younis Khan as captain in place of Inzamam-ul-Haq immediately after the current tour of England.
“Inzamam has not been able to motivate his teammates as captain in the recent series.
“He has rarely appeared involved with the proceedings on the field and has not led from the front which should have been the case," lamented Inti while chatting to reporters here the other day.
The former all-rounder said now was the right time for the PCB to replace Inzamam with Younis Khan who had shown all the qualities of becoming a fine skipper.
“Younis looks more enthusiastic on the field and he is always making things happen. He should at once be handed the control of the team as the World Cup is only seven months away,” said Intikhab.
Earlier this year, the PCB named Inzamam as captain till December 2006 but Pakistan’s recent defeats against England may well see a change at the helm sooner than most fans and critics expect.
The PCB chairman Shaharyar M Khan was also circumspect when quizzed on Inzamam’s exact tenure as skipper.
“Inzamam is our captain till the ICC Champions Trophy but it is upto the ad hoc committee to give him an extension or not,” Shaharyar was quoted as saying in the press recently.
What about prior series? Was Inzi not able to motivate? Did we win/draw without motivation? What if Younis fails to do same in some series, would that mean that he will be replaced too?
