Re: tieing up the baby....
I just hope she is talking about swaddling
Re: tieing up the baby....
ok, i thought everyone would know..maybe didnt explain myself well.
basically they get rope( or something) and tie them around the baby, from chest downwards, like swaddling....but i find it wronggg...alot of jahils still do it.

Its probably to keep the cloth wrapped around the baby like we put NaRa in our shalwar.
Re: tieing up the baby....
Do you mean rope OR robe? I have never ever seen a rope being used.
Re: tieing up the baby…
Oh dang, MIL must be saying robe and DIL understood rope ![]()
Re: tieing up the baby…
exactly.
Re: tieing up the baby…
god get over it ppl its not just a desi **** fact.
i got one as a gift from a friend in england .. by mothercare! in pakistan they may use a proper rope or even a tie… the one i got was a soft cute cloth covered tie but still.. a tie… and you swaddle the baby and then use the tie to make a loose tie to keep the sheets in place.
never got around to using it cuz in laws would have multiple heart attacks seeing their grandkid swaddled (even though its the best thing you can do to your newborn so a moment to
)— to tie him would have been murder.
but … honestly.. no baby has died cuz of this.. so loosen up ppl
just cuz they cant find anything else to keep the sheets in plac (though my family use a large safety pin), doesnt mean they are gonna squeeze the last breath outta the poor thing
even more ![]()
Re: tieing up the baby....
I think thats sooo cute..it's called swaddling and you don't have to use rope for that, i saw my sister used flannel sheets n wrapped them around the baby in this particular style so they can't kick it off.. I think it soothes the baby and they sleep for longer time but then again some babies may not like it at all so it depends.. probably the baby feels secure like you have your arms wrapped around them.. I dunno, all I know is babies look super adorable in that.. so tiny, like a doll :D
Re: tieing up the baby....
I agree with what others have said. First off, you're anticipating a conflict before there even is one, which is the best way to cause an issue/
I've never seen this style of swaddling, but I have seen babies here with special blankets that button or tie to stay closed.

Re: tieing up the baby…
See, now THAT makes sense! The way the original post was worded made me think of someone tying up a baby’s hands and feet. ![]()
And yes, there is nothing wrong with swaddling…i’ve done it with all three of my children.
Re: tieing up the baby....
my mother said it makes the baby feel secure and they stay calm and sleep for a long period of time. it happens because they are used to be living in a very tight place (tummy) that when they get out and be able to move around they feel unsecured and wants to be held.
my mother used to swaddle my brother when he was a baby with her malmal ka dupatta. there was nothing cruel about it.
Re: tieing up the baby....
I swaddled the hell outta of my my babies but never used any ropes or ties. My hubby wrapped them up just like a good bean burrito.
