tieing up the baby....

Re: tieing up the baby....

I personally dont like swaddling and did not do with my own kids nor did I see any need. They are in the world now and need to adjust, of course they need warm cloths and blankets on them but thats all. I know someone who did the real tight swaddling method and tied with a big pin till the kid was 6 months !! and man that baby didnt grow till it reached 1. yikes

Re: tieing up the baby....

exactly. i did it with my kids too and my second one was born in australia, and the midwife was so happy to see him tied up and then she said thats the best thing you can do to them as this way they feel they are still in the tummy :)

the "rope" is called a bandhna because u tie up ur child my mil made som fancy ones for my sil baby i dont tie my baby but i just wrap him up in a soft kapra ......he is so used to it now that he wont sleep until he is wraped up in his blankt

there is nothing wrong in it

Re: tieing up the baby....

Swaddling is fine.. but i wouldn't use a rope or something to tie around the baby even if it was lose Gosh!!

Re: tieing up the baby....

haha yes that too :D

Re: tieing up the baby…

hey nadz.. thats also a very Emirati thing- its a norm for new mothers to wrap the new baby along with a firm piece of bound string and “rock” or “swaddle” the baby .. Primarily its supposed to “train” the new baby in keeping a firm and straight posture and also allows the baby to sleep without frightening itself with the arms all about the place.. I didnt realise that this is also common in Pakistan:hmmm:

Re: tieing up the baby....

I have seen the rope tying in some very typical familes. Its done basically to prevent the"Morro Refelx" (when the baby seems to startle while sleeping) which is by the way a very normal thing and goes away by the time the baby is one.

Re: tieing up the baby....

WOW

Re: tieing up the baby....

its a common thing in villages in peshawar and in afghanistan too but the whole thing is that the baby gets a sound sleep and dont get afraid .
