Three women tortured, forced to walk naked in public

Here we go again. History repeats itself. Unless government takes deterrent steps to stop such inhuman act, crime against women will not stop. There must be other way to deal with the situation not by humiliating women in such barbaric manner.

LAHORE: Three women, accused of prostitution, were tortured by an angry mob and were later forced to walk naked on Multan Road in Phoolnagar, Kasur, a private television channel reported on Monday.

A large number of people attacked a house in Jambarkalan village, torturing the women — including one Shahnaz — for alleged involvement in prostitution and running a brothel in the village.

The victims said the accusations against them were baseless. They said they had a property dispute ongoing with Union Council Nazim Ilyas Khanzada who wanted to occupy their house illegally. The women have accused him of planning the assault on their home.

Khanzada confirmed the women were tortured by the mob. He, however, denied plotting against them.

Jambarkalan Police Sub-Inspector Bashir said a case had been registered against the women for running a brothel on the local residents’ complaints.

Meanwhile, no case was registered against the mob that attacked the women and publicly humiliated them.

DAWN.COM | National | Mob disgraces three women

KASUR, Sept 28: With their faces painted black and hair cut, three women were forced to parade semi-naked in a Phoolnagar village by a mob on charges of prostitution on Sunday night.

When a civil court set them at liberty on Monday, a large number of people blocked the national highway for about one-and-a-half hours.

Denying prostitution charges, the aggrieved women said the motive behind the entire episode was political rivalry and litigation over property dispute. One of them said that her 13 years old daughter had been missing since Sunday night.

Reports said that Jamber Kalan union council nazim Muhammad Ilyas Khan and Abdul Sattar along with some 200 villagers had raided the alleged brothel of former councilor Shahnaz alias Sarajan Bibi and recovered her, Azra and Shabana while two men managed to escape.

The charged crowd also brought out the households and set them ablaze before humiliating the women in full public view. The women were finally handed over to the Phoolnagar police on Sunday night.

On Monday, the accused women were produced before a Pattoki court from where they got the bail.

The court scolded investigation officer Bashir Ahmed for giving divergent statements. The IO stated that he along with a police party raided the alleged brothel, but later he changed his statement and said that villagers had handed over the women to police. The court ordered registration of a case under section 496 of the PPC.

Hearing about the release of women, more than 500 villagers gathered at Ada Jamber Kalan and blocked the Multan Road to protest the court decision and demanded immediate arrest of the accused women.

SP (investigation) Waqas Ahmed along with a police team reached the spot and succeeded in dispersing the protesters.

It is learnt that accused Shahnaz has a land dispute with former TMA chairman Rana Naseeruddin. The alleged brothel is said to be the disputed property

Re: Three women tortured, forced to walk naked in public

disgrace...absolutly disgrace.

Re: Three women tortured, forced to walk naked in public

if ppl have taken against the brothel .......... it is gud considering the increasing trend of prositution and no check by the police ........

however, the naked parade (if it is true ) is digusting and the pervertors shud be punished. but keeping in view the yellow journalism and sizzle that media creates it is premature to say nething about it.

as far as property dispute is concerned .......... u can expect nething from punjabi ........... lols ( i m punjabi too)

let the authorities investigate man! and dont be so emotional.

i understand it is a henious crime if it is proved. but to tell u truth i know 4 to 5 five cases where woman strip herself off just to implicate others (whatever be the reason) or accused falsely the male.

i hope u have read the sura yusuf and incident of hazrat yusuf & zulekha .

hope u got my point ......... so wait and see instead of developing ur view point at the outset.

Re: Three women tortured, forced to walk naked in public

Whats wrong with running a brothel?

Re: Three women tortured, forced to walk naked in public

funny

Re: Three women tortured, forced to walk naked in public

Disgusting.

Re: Three women tortured, forced to walk naked in public

A little while ago they werent apprehending criminals on the streets and the mobs in Karachi got so agitated that they started killing the alleged criminals on the streets. This is exactly what will happen if the law authorities do not do their jobs right. This is also reminiscent to the shamim aunty incident at the red mosque, where she was running a brothel next to the mosque and was backed by the popular leaders, including shiekh rashid, and the goons at the masjid started taking things into their own hands because the police was helpless.

The focus on the police is misplaced. It is a problem but the larger problem is mob violence. It is not healthy for a society to be in such a condition that when an accusation is leveled a mob attacks the accused on the basis of a mere accusation. What motivated the mob?

I am not emotional but angry on such barberic act. Read my post again. Every sensible person should be sad and angry on such incident.

I think you read the news again it was mob who removed their clothes. I have never heard that Pakistni women stripped herselves to implicate others. Can you provide link? But then this is mob situation.

What Sura Yousuf has to do with this incident? By the way character named, Zulekha has never been mentioned in the sura. Go read it again.

Re: Three women tortured, forced to walk naked in public

so dont take the slanted version.......... let the court and police do their work and fix the responsibilty.

( i hope u have seen the clip of meera in which she tries to win the favour of journalist by rubbing her hand ............. )

i hope u will get the idea ......

i think prbably the wrong doing of the alleged prositutes...............

when police will not do their work ....... definitely people will come out............

ur ignorance has made me speechless!

r u from mars or from the venus.

or u r running the "show" in Australia?

Re: Three women tortured, forced to walk naked in public

^^

Just a thought though..

How many in the mob were actual users of the brothel

Please give explicit reasons why a there is something wrong with running a private brothel. K? thanks.

I think you are missing the point here again. I have said there should be anotherway to deal with this situation instead of striping and humiliating women in the public. What about prostitutes jo defence societioun main dhanda karti hain? I challenge anyone can touch them. kahan kahan protitutes ko nanaga karo gay? That is not the solution.

You have quoted mira, had any journalist file case against her nudity? As someone pointed out that many in that mob would be the customers to these so called prostitutes.

Did case of Nawabpur ring some bells in to your ear? I had posted whole Story for you in other thread on Zia-ul-Haq. Where are the culprits? I doubt that culprits in this case will ever be caught, however these poor women will be subjected to humiliation again and again. That is not the Islamic way of life.

U said that right.

sounds like bs

i have made it clear that i do not support stripping.......

but the point here is that "whether stripping happened or not"

prostitution is also non islamic ways............. y u mention zia ul haq y not the rest of succueding premier who did nothing including female PM *Benazir. *

so wait ans see is the only option here
